Pretty sure that's the one I have.

I think they fluctuate in price slightly. I swear I've paid nearer £140 in the past, and there certainly wasn't a best offer option!

I was talking about the two front mounts. Good price for that one though. Again, good access when the body is off.

OP,

Has anyone suggested welding in strips to properly bolt the seats in?

Has anyone had a seat tear out of the fibreglass?

This is why I stopped bothering to look into it. I think the reason it's never happened is likely because you have the weight of you on top of the seat, and in the event of a crash, it's you that will get flung forward, before being restrained by the seatbelt. The seat can't go anywhere because you're in the way.

Doesn't the S use the Granada diff mount, which looks similar but is larger?

I've never compared a Granada mount to a Sierra mount, to be honest. I don't even know if the two differ in any way. As far as I'm aware they use a Sierra one (can see no reason why it wouldn't be up to the job). The V8S uses the Cosworth works type.

In any case, I've never fitted a new OE spec one as I've never found one. Always gone for one of the billet ones, and that's more than man enough biggrin

I wish to make use of the frame mounts of the Elise seats to allow a regular belt for road use and a harness for the track. Using the seat frame fixings will simplify install.

No, S uses the smaller Sierra mounting.

Aha, that would want fixing to something more than a bit of fibreglass!

Tower View Race Services made up some seat brace bars for me and I think they also sold them to other customers. These are bolted on rather than welded. IMO it's a big improvement - makes it far less likely that the seat will tear loose in a collision and also stiffens the seat mounts very usefully compared to the flexible fiberglass floor.

Well my week was going well and then the welder compared the metal that I have waited 6 weeks for to the car,,,,,,,, check out the pics

The centre bar fitting support gussets were too small, the F bars were welded in the wrong place and the horizontal bars with the earth bolt on were too short!!!

To say I was a little perplexed would be a severe understatement.

However, after consultation with RT racing they openly apologised and have rebuilt and replaced the whole lot which will be posted out to me fingers crossed, in the coming week.

Finally to all you 2.9 wheelbarrow fans I would just like to say that its been actually downgraded beacuse two weeks earlier it had my 3.5 V8 in it out of my Stag!!

We like to adapt and overcome!!

Sorry guys, mine were actually in (quite) good condition, so they'll not be replaced by my home made PU versions, for now. I did get so far as to make a drawing however, if anyone needs it, here it is ...... smile

You can still buy them here : - superflex

I've only had one interaction with RT Racing, but on that occasion Richard was an absolute star! He really went out of the way to ensure that I had what I needed to get to an event a couple of days later, I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Yes I agree, to be honest thats why I just took it on the chin. I was expecting a bhing match and what I got was an instant apology and a solution to fix it. How many times does that happen!!

Guys I am at a head scratching time!!

All the welding is done and the frame has been sealed and painted.

Then after finally finding 6 Strong people we put the body back on, then the problem happened.

All seems to fit perfectly well but I just cannot seem to get the body to lower the final approx. 2cms at the back and onto the frame top rubbers, the body is just above the original bolt holes and not resting on the replaced rubber mounts.

I have just been chatting to the welder who tells me that it just needs Pressing into place!! It will then has he says clunk back into its original position.

I am obviously loathed to try and get it into its final resting place using all the bolts under tension due to its fiberglass body. I have the chassis at the mo on axle stands to make it solid.

Has anybody had this problem b4 and how was it overcome, all suggestions very welcome.

This. Is it stuck level or higher on one side?

There shouldn't be any force required over the weight of the body.

may even be the fuel tank inlet tube not poking into the boot

Just what I was going to say. The rubber joiner between the fuel filler pipe and the tank caused me problems when trying to get the body to sit back in place. I had the joiner still attached to the filler and had allignment problems which held the body off of the chassis.
