After a week of fast idle, I've diagnosed the problem as a sticky air mass sensor. If you push the flap, it sometimes gets stuck part closed on return. Anyone had a similar problem, and what's the best solution? The unit seems to be sealed and I can't seem to find replacements anywhere.

Cheers, Richard.

If yours is a 2.9 The plastic backs on the Air flow meters are held on with sealant. if you run a knife round the edge it will gently prize off. This gives access to clean the wiper and resistance track. I don't know if it will help you get to what is sticking though.

Try the "easy fix" first, good squirt of carb cleaner up the orifice!

Cheers - I've got the plastic top off and the resistance track all seems to be in order & measures out ok, the stickiness seems to be aluminium oxide around the vane - I've removed the grime with carb cleaner. Time to remove the bottom aluminium panel....
