Hey all. If I spot a car I like but don't like the interior then what is the actual feasibility of getting it fully retrimmed? Has anyone done this? Does it show if it hasn't been done properly? Does it require the leathers from the original manufacturer or can a trim company cut the trim themselves using their own hides? Thoughts on cost? Many thanks!

The ease of retrimming generally depends on the car.
Does it need its door cards, dash and carpets trimming in addition to the seats?

Good point. I think it probably would.

There was a company called B-Trim that did all the interior panels in better quality leather than OEM for various BMW's.

But for something more limited in production I doubt it would make economic sense.

As above, it depends on what needs done. It's a seater car and requires, dashboard, seats, carpet & door cards it would be between £5-10k. That's for a 2 seater car by the way.

If you just wanted the seats done then say £1500 approx.

I'm in the northwest but spend half my life in London. Contacts would be handy actually. I think it's one of these things you do via referral as it's such a skilled task. Don't want to end up with saggy seats!

Ah OK, I probably won't be of use then, I restore leather in the midlands, and have trimmers I use fairly frequently in Leicester and S Yorks. If Sheffield is within reach for you I wouldn't hesitate to recommend www.bielawskissheffieldtrimming.co.uk

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
Another thing to consider is how much of the interior you would like in leather, alcantara and seat backs etc. in vinyl.

B-Trim in Enfield Middx, just off the A 10 and M 25 do great work and loads of one off bespoke jobs with a huge range of available materials....but they are not exactly down the road.

Thanks folks. I'm not too fussed if they're far away. I'd rather hand the car over to people who really know what they're doing. I'm thinking of buying a keeper - maybe an original vanquish. In some cases the interiors are worn or just a colour that I don't like.

Yet another endorsement for Dave the trimmer.
He did a full retrim for me, top quality choice of materials, excellent workmanship.

He is certainly not cheap, but there is a reason why he gets such high end work and a lot of repeat business. Quality costs
