My most recent purchase. I've had a few Saabs now, I can't seem to go Saab-less for more than a few months!

With a dabble in the newer ones and being dissapointed by reliability and build quality, I've gone for another old one. I always regretted selling my old 9000 2.0 CSE. I'd been watching ebay for some time but the only ones to come up were a bit tatty, or auto which I didn't want.

Ideally I was after an Aero, but this popped up just around the corner from my parents house, so I promptly went to view it and left a deposit. The previous owner had it since 2009, a very nice chap who had no less than 3 V12 Bi-Turbo Mercs, among other cars! He had been taking the car to an independant local Saab specialist, who I've since spoken to and have been assured no expense has been spared looking after this car. The previous owner was a real stickler for detail, even fitting Saab badged metal dust caps to the tyres!

It came with a big file of history, and has had the typical faded red paint work sorted at big expense too. It really is a lovely thing. It has a 275bhp ECU, abbot racing suspension, came with two sets of alloys - one with nearly new Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres, and the other with good P6000's. I'm not 100% sure on the wheels, I wouldn't mind some Aero wheels but I don't want it to be trying to be an Aero, if that makes sense.

It's fast, with old school turbo power delivery. Its not as easy to drive fast as my 9-5 Aero was, but it's definitely more of an occasion and feels a lot more solid.

I think I got a bit of a bargain personally, and it's going to be a keeper, used mostly at weekends and the occasional blast to work.

Here are a few pics from the seller and one or two bad ones I've taken, sorry they're not great quality, as I've had to screenshot from eBay, but I'll get some proper pics of my own soon after it's been detailed.

Good stuff, certainly sounds like it has been pampered. Does the plate come with it too?

Yes the plate came with the car... I'll be honest, I'm not totally sold on the illegal spacing. The chap who sold the car to me had several cars with similar spacing and assured me the police have never been interested, but all it takes is a bored Bobby one day I suppose.

Some correctly spaced plates came with the car so I may well fit those soon.

Thanks for the comments!

No real updates other than I'm still really enjoying the car! It's being detailed and sealed by a friend of a friend next week so should be nice and shiny and hopefully protected from the copious amounts of bird st i seem to have to keep removing every other day. They must like the red paint!

Does your car have the Abbott ECU upgrade ?

Have you removed the heater plate and the water pipe throttle body bypass mods ?

I experimented with a few air intakes on my 9000s and found the Abbott/ITG intake to be pretty good, the abbott downpipe made a nice difference and I always thought the abbott big intake pipe looked pretty good under the bonnet

I'm not sure if it's an Abbot ECU or not, but it's a 275bhp one. Not sure if there are any other mods, I need to have a poke about under the bonnet.

I'm not sure whether to enjoy as is or sort it out for more power!

I am indeed on UKSaabs,

Thanks for this - it has uprated suspension from Abbott racing according to the history, which seems pretty good to me, so I think this can stay.

So a friend of a friend gave the car a good clean, decontaminated the paint, a decent machine polish, wax and seal & rainex on the windows. It looks great, even now weeks later. I'm no photographer and unfortunately the small Northamptonshire town I live in doesn't have an abundance of public beauty spots for car pictures, but here are a few pics after the polish

Beading up nicely
