Temperature sensor for gauge

The two sensors above the thermostat are sized 1/8 BSP and 3/8 BSP in my three manifolds.
1/8 BSP sounds good, those little sensors have been used for "donkeys years" so that makes sense. Not convinced with the 3/8 though, BSP is 19 TPI, my spare sender checks out at 18 TPI = 3/8 NPT? With the management system being Bosch and it's a German Ford engine I'd have expected a metric thread but doesn't match up to any of my thread gauges
The two can be put together but will only go in a couple of threads before tightening, plenty of PTFE or threadseal and should be ok?
A quote from the WWW -
When using an NPT fitting, it is common for you to only get a few turns out of the fitting. DO NOT try to be He-Man and continue tightening. It is not going to make a better seal the more you tighten the fitting. The thread is tapered and is not meant to go "all the way in" as you may think.
Both 1/4" and 3/8" NPT have 18TPI.
