Cigarette Lighter
Discussion
Having trouble with the wiring to my cig lighter, it's been chopped about before from the looks of it.
There are two wires, one red and one black, but using the beep function on my tester they both go to earth, no voltage on either.
Hanging around in there was also a taped up yellow cable with grey stripe which has 12v when ignition is on.
The cig lighter does have a bulb in it.
Is something wrong with one of the original two wires or has it been disconnected and this is what the yellow wire is for?
I'm going to pick up a new socket, would it be ok to use the yellow wire as feed?
Thanks in advance

Used the yellow wire for feed and black for earth, it was clear once I had the replacement cig lighter that the bottom part of mine was missing, note if buying from halftauds you need the one labelled as 'fits most japenese and american cars' not the one labelled for European cars, thanks TVR.
I just removed the light and taped off the cable for that, one less thing to go wrong
