I was actually looking to replace my S1 rad with an ally one while my system is drained out so may be able to help out here.. (Got it re-cored last year, works fine)

Would happily sell it if I could find replacement ally one which ain't £500 eek
In regards to the Subaru one, I take it the act stainless water pipes I just got wouldn't fit?

Why wouldn't they fit? They don't connect to the radiator. Hoses need a trim but they need trimming with a TVR one too. The rad mounts need accommodating that's it.

Very lucky to come out of that unscathed Andy, could have been a whole lot worse. Glad you are OK.

Bit of a common theme here.....

Lets hope someone can take on the ex-Tet moulds as the supply of second-hand ones must dry up sooner or later.

Sorry to hear about your shunt Andy, glad you're ok.

Hopefully not too tough to fix.

Thanks everyone could quite easily have been a bunch of flowers tied to the lamppost and me more.

thanks Stuart bonnet all safe and sound and I recovered as much of the old bonnet and fixings as possible rad and frame are bent so will look at your option.

Both wing mirrors have gone for a Burton and the indicators which were Kia pride any how on with the repairs the bonnet being the major piece.

i think i was probably the first to fit the subaru rad, did mine about 7 years ago, did my own research finding a rad that was similar dimensions with outlets in closest positions and that was intended for a car at least as powerful and also readily available, impreza one came out clear winner. mine has been fitted the last 7 years and i only ever needed to fit one of the two electric fans that the subaru came with and the car never ever overheats even when stuck in london traffic on a burning hot summer day like last saturday, needle never rises above 90! i did had to do a little welding to the rad mounts but with bonnet off all very easy. good luck.

what is the 'open wide' mod? is that about opening the front to let more air in or modding the hinge to tilt it forward more? am interested in either ;-)

If the radiator is borked then have a look at using a Subaru Impreza STi (99-2004 iirc) item instead of the 'proper' one as an alloy one is a fifth the price of the TVR item. Plentyfull supply too. The mount will need a little tweak but basic stuff. Size is fine. New rad, fan, mounts and clips can all be had for around £160.

If you can salvage the lower light pods these can be grafted onto the S1/2 bonnet so might be worth considering. Also try and salvage the rubber bump strips and indicators.

If the indicator lenses are busted then some BMW E36 lenses fit.

Finally, may as well do the 'open wide' mod at the same time.

Got your text. I'm in all day doing paperwork and digging out the garden. If the courier calls me, I'll meet them and take them to the garage.

maybe surface and design would be interested in the moulds. i have been looking for a recommended specialist to repair my s that was bashed up the bum on saturday and surface and designs seems to be head and shoulders above the rest and staffed by ex-tvr people. surely they would be glad of moulds???

Indeed, including mine I think I remember atleast 5 cars that now have redesigned hinges, all made slightly differently.

Mine are very much based on Terry's design seen in this thread.

I made a couple of minor changes but the ones Terry made just looked so neat and effective I had to rip off the design.

Sorry Terry.

Cheers,
Carl.
