Hi guys,

Looking for some suggestions please.

Indicators and dash lights suddenly stopped working. Fuel pump works, lights work, hazards work, car starts...

Have looked at fuses, but hazards work? Yellow connector?

Stumped at the moment, so any ideas much appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

Warning lights, instruments and indicators share a common fuse.

there have been two or three fuse board layouts, have you checked the correct fuse (10 amp)?

Fuse could be ok but loose in its holder?

some cheap replacement fuses are stamped from thinner metal so the blades that connect into the receptacles in the fuse box are onto a looser even before allowing for the receptacles "opening up" a bit with time and use?

Hi,

The S Bible say's it's a 30A fuse, and changed all those. Do you know which 10A fuse it is on a V8S?

Got it, thank you! I was pulling the wrong bloomin' fuses. What a rat's nest of a palava though. My 12 year old was finally able to limbo under the dash and find the right fuse. Hey presto, all is well, fingers well and truly crossed!

Yep, those fuse layout drawings are a bit misleading, the circuit title is above the fuse, not below it. I have ruled lines across my diagrams to avoid confusion.

Well, we have made it to France, but the fuse blows every time we fill with fuel. The tank had just been out, so I'm thinking it must be sender related. Problem is we have no indicators, which is stressing SWMBO considerably.. Again, any suggestions much appreciated.

Cheers,

Matt

You could try disconnecting the fuel guage sender and see if the fuse stops blowing. If it does then judge refills by miles covered, leave a nice safety margin and maybe carry a gallon of fuel just in case.
Sort it properly when you get home.

Good luck,
Carl.

Connections to the sender are reasonably accessible in the NSR wheel arch. If you do disconnect, make sure the trailing connectors are insulated and tied down.

Sorry,
I felt that was a given.

Carl.

Just to close this thread off...

After a few days of mucking about with my 12 yr old son repeatedly performing his contortionist act, we stuck a 15A fuse in there temporarily, and all was well for the rest of the trip.

Both the V8S, (and the Wedge support vehicle) survived the 2500km journey there, back and touring around, including a marathon 10 hour journey in stop/start traffic in intense heat this last Saturday (just the one half hour on the side of a French motorway to cool down!).
