Hi guys, I'm after some info on body repair. As some may know from my post the other day I am soon to be the owner of an unloved S3.
Now from what I know the bodywork needs attention, Iv done lots of body repairs in the past but never on fibreglass! There is some laquer peel and crazing on the body.. Now from what Iv done in the past it's generally just a case of rubbing the damaged area back, repairing, prepping and painting.
Is this the same principle on fibreglass with the crazing or is it going to need more work than I am familiar with??..

Paul..

there will be others to tell you what to do

I'll just say do NOT cut out the swirls / cracks and fill with body filler - it will sink after a while (may look good just after painting)

I have done that before readit

This is an old, but still quite useful and relevant article, well worth a read.

Paul, wait until you have had a look at the car before making any decisions on the bodywork. The substrate looks sound to me, the crazing is on the surface finish, so no major fibreglass remedial work needed IMHO.

Yeah your right Glen, just trying to get a heads up if it needs anything more than a rundown and respray..
Won't see Louie for a few weeks now as we're on different shifts but will arrange to go see it as soon as I can
