Hi Damian,
Looks a nice neat job, more pics please.
However, I thought the hinge point needed moving forward and down for the nose to clear the ground? Yours looks like it is forward and up?
Comments?
Cheers, hope you reckon your Club suscription was worth it! wink

From what I can see, having the hinge point higher up just means that the bottom of the bonnet hits the chassis sooner. As long as it opens as far as you need before it hits, I don't see that as a problem, and with the curved design used I suspect the bonnet is free to open a long way.

could be just the angle of the photo - a shot from the side would be better

Hello again,

I think forward is the main criteria, but as was mentioned higher could cause fouling on the back edge as the bonnet opens. As I understand it the curved shape avoids that.

The main thing is that it does now fully open without hitting the ground. When I visit the car next I will get some more shots of the work.

You can all have a good butchers at Chatsworth smile

That looks like a nice neat solution!

More details would be great, don't suppose they are offering a kit?

A kit would be good, I will mention it to them.. It's funny I showed them pics of all then ones I've seen so far and they came up with something that looks like none of them smile Ilove it.

I must say thus far S&D have been an absolute joy to deal with.. Not the cheepest but worth it so far..

Need to make decision re door mirrors and colour smile

Mirrors that point backwards are good, so you can see where you've been and whether some idiot in a Sting Ray is about to collide with your rear end having overcooked it and had to stamp on the anchors locking up all four. yikes

Colour? Don't be shy Damian, go for Barbie Pink. See & be seen. Safety! wink

Personally, I think the citroen mirrors suit the car, modern items are too large in comparison (imo) but I would recommend the 'ease of access' mod whilst you're at it as opposed to the original recessed fitting found on most S's and Chimineas

(Thanks to previous owner/TVR irregularities)

Talking of crashes I was on the way to Whitby today nice clear road, good weather and visibility going past what looked like a parked car in a lay by. Got to within a few car lengths and she pulls out without any signal or prior movement. luckily the oncoming lane was clear so moved into that while braking and her crazy pull out becomes a u turn.. Nose of car struck us just behind front wheel and wiped out wing and both doors on that side.. FFS had entire family in car + dog.. Anyhoo no one hurt just shocked and upset.

Probably need to get wife a new car but will see. The driver of other car said "you weren't there..." Unfortunately I was.. You could see a good 1/4 mile down a straight road in the direction I was coming from. Ho hum.

As I was saying Damian... Barbie Pink. A nice visible colour, even from a 1/4 mile away. Trust me on this. teacher

Thanks Fella.. And others.. Got any good door mirror pictures?

Colour wise I'm split between fiat tech gray or sticking with the existing blue.. Which I do like..

Mirror wise again I do like the existing mx5, Citroen although authentic are getting expensive and I like the idea of mirror mounted repeaters.

Just mentioned on another thread that the MGF or TF Door Mirrors may be an option as they are not as big as those mentioned already - just a thought.
Loads around in various colours and not too pricey
