That i do laugh stopped surprisingly well actually, which brake setup were you using?
Hi Steve, I did a bit of thinking into the dynamics of the brake system and eventually opted for 260mm front discs and standard rears, keeping the hydraulic balance the same. Did spend a bit of time getting them working properly, especially getting good free movement of the auto adjusters at the rear to get good rear balance. Cooperation from the local garage to use the brake tester helped to get rid of slight side to side imbalances. I have massively more confidence in the brakes now. I have also kept to standard pads and linings for all condition road use. One big issue has been that the front brakes now stay cool for longer so the brake performance stays more consistent during a hard drive. I have better 'feel' but that is much more a result of careful checks that everything is working as perfectly as possible.
When you think about it the brakes were designed to stop a much heavier car, they should have a good deal in reserve if working properly.
An inevitable problem with most S's is that they dont get enough use, often being laid up for months, sometimes outside. That does lead to rusting of discs and drums and possibly cylinders. That rusting wont be uniform so after a lay up the rolling road brake tester usually shows an imbalance. On one occasion the performance achieved by both front brakes was virtually the same, but it was obvious that one came on later than the other, which could have dire consequences on a slippery surface. A tiny split in a caliper seal had let in a little muck and just started some rust. A little bit of maintenance and the brake balance was perfect again. Mine is going on the brake tester at the start of every season and again at the MOT.

I found the bigger discs made the brakes easier to control and more progressive even when the extra cooling isn't needed.

Hi Steve, I did a bit of thinking into the dynamics of the brake system and fitted the biggest buggers I could find wink

So I have gone for the Dunlop Sport Blue Response in original profile 205/60R15 91V.
Where from and how much?
I was due to have a pair fitted a couple of weeks ago but didn't get round to it due to other commitments. Over last couple of days I've been looking again and nobody local can get hold of any - apparently it's a 6 week wait for some more to be manufactured frown

Used Black Circles for mine earlier in the year. Good service as always, but 'out of stock' now.

Sorry Ian, the local tyre company boss is a mate and gets them for me at the 'right' price so I am not going to quote it! He did have to ring round but all I know is that he says they will be there in January which is when I want them done.

Camskill website appears to be letting me place an order, so presume they have stock?

Think they supply only, how does the price compare, is around £150 a pair fitted still about right?

Back in August this year I had 4 x Dunlop Blue Response fitted etc at home by Kwik Fit Mobile for a total of £275.96.
At the time that was the cheapest I could find.
