Does anyone have any recommendations for a starter motor on a S2 2.9 1990?

Get a click with key turn, sometimes a start, rocking the car in gear normally makes it work, but not reliably enough.

Connector under dash is bypassed, good connection to solenoid, good earth. So suspect the solenoid is iffy, or the motor is sticking part engaged.

Cheers
Dave

Pretty sure there is a thread on this, however I would be inclined to find a good auto electricians that does reconditioning. Usually they do it on an exchange basis if they have yours in stock. Usually a lot cheaper and you can be sure it is the right one. They will of course sort out any solenoid issues as well. If auto electrics are not your scene...take it to an expert!

There's quite a lot of info. on how to test the starter motor in the Haynes manuals for the "Sierra V6" and "Granada & Scorpio" cars, both of which are available on eBay for a few quid. Also, the Steve Heath bible covers this on pages 119 to 122.
This may also help, if you need a new one. Recently, when I removed the starter motor from the engine, I noted down the Bosch parts numbers on the body.

Well done again Tim, get it all logged down.

(got an enquiry about clutch/brake pedal rubbers, couldnt see them on your list, they are Jaguar E type! Still available part C9334. 2 needed per car)

OK, I added the pedal rubbers to the list, under "clutch"

Found this old topic regarding the starter motor. Might be useful .......

I'd also check the state of the flywheel tooth ring as well.
