Hi there all you lovely S-Clubbers wavey

Alan461, the mastermind behind the last two highly successful SCH gatherings, is not one to rest on his laurels. No siree.
He has arranged a new venue for us next year at Uxbridge, in conjunction with the Uxbridge Rotary Club Annual Auto Show and family fun day, to be held on Sunday 16th July 2017.
Here is a link to this year's show:
http://www.uxbridgeautoshow.com/

Alan has attended and says it's very good.
This choice is aimed at getting a lot more S Owners from the Southern regions to attend.

Before those of you oop norf start complaining, the following year, 2018, Alan suggests we hold SCH somewhere in the Northeast, the Borders, or Bonnie Scotland.
We think it is important to have a nice geographical balance of venues so we all get a chance of joining in the wonderful world of S Club.

Talking of joining in, if anyone has recommendations for a suitable northern venue, please let us know. We would also love to hear from anyone willing to give a hand with the organisation in the future. I'm not getting any younger...

It's not that difficult, even I can do it! smile

For those of you who would like to attend Stoneleigh Kit Car Show or Stratford Festival of Motoring or Donington Historic next year, there is nothing stopping you/us, they are held on Spring Bank Holiday weekend and do not clash with Uxbridge.

Discuss.... feedback welcome!

Hi Ray,
The organisers have said people can camp on the Saturday night, but there will be no shower facilties.
Portaloos will be available.

For the ardent camping fan, come and join me at the Barn Farm S Club weekend.
Provisional dates are Fri 23rd to Sun 25th June 2017. Full details to follow early in the new year. smile

Mick, sounds like a nice venue, but we were envisioning somewhere a bit further north than Ripon.

There is another at Corbridge (A69 between Newcastle and Carlisle) first weekend in July - not sure about Camping arrangements - but with 700 vehicles last year I would imagine there would be.

The Uxbridge show is one I keep meaning to go to as it is supposed to be a good one, with the incentive of the S Club on tour being in attendance I will make more effort to be there.

I will admit that Uxbridge doesnt appeal to me at all, someone needs to be bribing me before I go that close to London! But I accept I am only one member.
Finding an event to fit in with shouldnt be a problem though. There are so many. I do not have the national events list* for 2017 yet but there are many events virtually every weekend. (*I use Morgan's Yearbook)

To digress, although it is relevant, does anybody know which past location attracted the most cars? Was it Newark in 2008 or before that? Then, can we understand why that event was the most successful?

I think the 2005 silverston S club had the most S cars but the Newark meet had more TVRs .

I also believe the Newark event in 2008 was based around the national kit car show, the same show that has been at stoneleigh these past couple of years.

For my two peneth, the show or event we hang SCH on is ready for a change as I found stoneleigh less interesting on a return visit. This is in no way a criticism because they've been excellent SCH's but variety is the spice of life and I take my hat off to Alan and Glen for the work put in to make SCH happen.

Newark and Stoneleigh were separate events but running concurrently for a few years.
I was all in favour of returning to Newark three years ago but the organisers decided to pull the plug after many years of sterling work because the showground would only offer a weekend date that coincided with Le Mans. Plus I think the organisers had given so much of themselves over the years that they needed some respite from the responsibility. It's a shame because Newark is quite a good location with excellent access from all over the country.

Regarding attendance levels, there were more active S owners with their S's on the road then compared to today, plus the weather will always be a factor that affects turnout on the SCH weekend.
This year the forecast was not brilliant, but we still had a good showing of S Clubbers. Makes yer proud! smile

Incidentally, talking of pride, the final figure raised for this year's nominated charity, MacMillan Cancer Care, was £317.00
Receipts are available for inspection if required.
This grand total was combined from the proceeds of the raffle, sale of SCH tankards superbly crafted by Alan, donations from Pete Deeman and I also chipped in the price of a TPS that RayTVR kindly gave me to save my bacon during this year's Eurotour.
On behalf of MacMillan, I thank you all for your generosity.

I think that Uxbridge is a good choice. The show seems to have lots to offer. I suspect that taking the event away from the Bank Holiday weekend will help some owners, where there are conflicting calls on people's time. Is July 16 before the schools break up for the summer?

I would not have any problems about attending a northern venue in 2018.

Im with Max. A bit of variety is good and its great that Alan and Glen are prepared to keep organising so they should be supported. London aint that bad. Just pick your time of day round the M25 ring carefully!!!!

As I understand it at the moment, the congestion charge applies to Central London, and does not apply at weekends anyway Mike.

If anyone knows different, please let us know.

If you're worried about congestion, Vick Vapour Rub is good. Or goose grease and camphor. wink

While we are on the subject just a couple of old pics for any interested owners .
Top two are SCH2 at Silverstone TVR in 2004.
It was planned to repeat at the same venue but the dealership failed and the event was held on some hardstanding near the circuit SCH3 2005.

That is rather sad Glen, any cars on sale seem to be snapped up quickly enough and the increased value makes them worth restoring now.scratchchin Are they being hoarded or going to less sociable owners!?
