I know a few of you on here have tried hydro-dipping so can someone tell me if this type of plastic wheel centre cap can be "re-chromed" using this process. If so, who would you recommend? Thanks thumbup

Julian Arnold of Fibron Ltd (who I bought the V8 from) had the dash and door mirrors on the car hydro-dipped by his brothers firm before I bought it. They look excellent.

I can try and ask if you wish?

I've seen Plastic header tanks done, so can't see why not.
Its very thin you your want a perfect surface finish to start with.
They look exactly like the Wedge center caps, I made some replacements in aluminum but they take a long time to make.

I'll bet. But if you are making any more please let me know how much you'd want for a set.

Where did you get your 'TVR' badges from?

These are for the MSW (OZ) wheels with the 5-stud Ford (Granada) pattern as fitted to Wedges. There may be a similar design MSW lattice wheel for the Sierra hubs on the 'S' but whether the centre hole is the same I don't know.

Spoke to Julian - unfortunately his brother no longer does this and Julian doesn't know much about it himself so I've drawn a blank, sorry.

No Steve, same wheels on my old V8S as your Chimp. The whole centre cap, with some of the lattice, is a 1 piece moulding. No separate little cap like on the wedge wheels or other S wheels.

I would guess that they are painted to match the powder coat on the wheel rims originally. You can't powder coat plastic.

I think a hydro dip in chrome may be a bit too difficult. As with hydro dipping the 1st phase is painting anyway.

If I was to suggest something why not have them rubbed down and sprayed in a metallic silver type finish? Then a nice diamond lacquer and all good.
