In my ignorance of breaking piston head rules of my now removed posting of 'Parts to go', I sincerely apologise to piston heads. I won't do it again !!!
A lesson learned for all to take note.

Duly noted Terry. Thanks for reminding us all.

We won't mention anything about the swirlpot, propshaft and calipers languishing unwanted in your pile of superfluous S parts. Oh no siree. nono

We are looking forward to the reveal of your project, sounds interesting! smile

I couldn't possibly comment on that last posting....
Not being in fear of being sent to the PH tower, in a reliant robin or worse, never to be seen again. (Sorry RR owners).
But anyone could pm message me, just for a casual chat of course.angel

Unless the damper is fairly new and with a specific diagnosed fault such as a damaged seal, I suggest you should always recondition or replace all four dampers together as a set. The characteristics of a damper varies considerably with age, and even if you replace like with like a mixture of old and new dampers can produce strange handling quirks. You will probably be looking at alternative aftermarket brands, and if you change brand/type it's even more important that you replace them as a set.

The front caliper is a Ford part but I don't know how widely available they are after all these years. If you can still get them, you're probably looking at around £40 for a NOS caliper or a fraction of that just for a seal kit. You will need to figure out which caliper type you have based on the TVR model and age. You can find this info for the S series here on PH and I'm sure you can find it for the Chimaera too.

What year Chimaera is it?

early ones had 240mm (same as standard on an S) discs but these were superseded by 260mm around '96 ?

Calipers are also different, if yours has the smaller ones it looks like Blue 30 can help you.

That I am afraid is a regrettable problem with PH which, as predicted, is gradually pushing debate onto FB. PH is still more valuable IMHO but FB is definitely gaining ground. Think Haymarket ought to rethink their position, while understandable it is increasingly out of date.
Mind you, as the PH search engine continues to defy so many people...........!!!!

To be fair PH provide the classifieds to sell things, which are free to use (possibly newer members have to pay or is that just for cars, not parts?)

That would be great if we could all access the PH classifieds Mike.
I have been unable to do so for over a year now on my windows phone, despite raising the issue on ' Website feedback'. So far the tecchies have failed to resolve the problem. frown

And moving the "Which TVR should I get" was just plain daft. The guy was specifically asking about the 'S' or a Wedge. Now he's getting responses about Chim's & 'T' cars. Rules is rules but some common sense is always nice.
