Hello Again

Sorry but it's raining and I can't find on the wiring diagram.

What colour should the front fog light wiring +ve feed be.? If anyone knows or can see I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'm making up some new front lamp looms.

Thanks

I'm not convinced there is a diagram for anything later than an S2.

Since everything else looks like standard lucas/BS colours fog lights would be red/yellow. Are they fog lights though? I thought S were only fitted with driving lights (mine is) which should be blue/yellow smile

"Driving lights" (you decide if they are fog or spots wink )are wired yellow/red on mine, from memory a standard colour supplied by Lucas with many add on accessories.

Diagram in the Steve Heath 'bible' doesn't show them on the V6 diagrams but has them as 'Front driving lights' on the V8S version of the diagram with wiring as Yellow/Red when it leaves the relay (but shown as yellow when it arrives at the bulb?).

Thats a good point.. Dammit.. I think I need to take a look.. I would like it to match the rest of the loom and I need to buy the wires anyway.

Thanks

Driving lights are wired in the same as spots but are a wider beam.
Spots light up a small area in the distance dead ahead of you, fogs light up low along the road and driving lights light up everything.

Early in my car's life, the spots were re-wired via some additional relays so they come on with main beam, which seems to work well. They are Ring RL020s which are cheap and easy to source. These leaves a nice matching spare switch which is now the fan override and indicator for the fan cutting in.

Don't know whether it was original or the result of some DIY by a previous owner, but the driving lights on my V8S were powered from the dashboard switch which was fed via a relay which was controlled by the headlamp high beam. Anyone else have that bonkers arrangement?

On mine the spots are fed by the yellow/red wire. Mine only come on when the main beam is on.

Sidelights in the lower pods? I haven't seen that combination before.

from the bay.....basically because original lucas fittings are expensive hens teeth and the ring ones are just too tight.

These are a gnats smaller and fill the hole nicely, not an interference fit like the commonly used ring lights. I had to flip the mounting brackets around (de-rivit, turn upside down, re rivit)

and i fitted makralon protective discs to prevent stone damage

Ring ones are fine on mine - a tight fit but not interference..

Mines had a bit of paintwork- a few coats is all it takes I think.
