A few things learned along the way..
Discussion
So its been a year an half since i first took the plunge & bought my TVR S1 with absolute no knowledge of the car, these are just some of the things i learned the hard way..
-Splashing out on expensive pioneer stereo's & speaker systems.. Lesson learned
-Dont presume the temperate gauge is accurate.. A needle type digital thermometer read 80° & the good ol TVR gauge was reading 100°!
-Think twice before replacing & broken fan with an 'extreme high performance' kenlowe fan & running it straight in jetboost mode. It draws so much power it sounds like a fighter jet & wreaks havoc on the ignition (stalled my car in low revs everytime it kicked in.) A normal fan is more than adequate if the cooling system is all functioning well
-When silicone hose shopping online ask for a sample of the colour first, as the colour shown on website often is different to the actual product colour
-Flashy headlight upgrades hmm although my 2nd time around they work absolutely great & really do light up the roads at night, im still 50/50 about the visual appearance of them & to be honest i barely even drive it at night so i feel this could of been money saved again..
-Unless your extremely lucky, A body off or replacing outriggers is inevitable somewhere down the line
-Some upgrades are absolutely worth doing despite losing abit of 'originality', replacing the floppy bunny ear wing mirrors & getting the bonnet hinge modification done was money well spent in my eyes
-Cherry bomb tail pipes weren't the wisest decision on long runs out

you could have just asked on this forum hope you're enjoying it now Steve (although not ideal time of year) after all your trials, tribulations and trips to Coventry!
Think of it as a warm up for all the grief the Chimaera is going to give you

Yep must confess i saw them on Phillpots 'S' first (as well as his bonnet mod ) & thought they looked very original! Price seems to have jumped up tho, im sure i picked the pair up for £27 new! I think they'd look really good body colour too but the black compliments the hood & rubber trimEdited by greenhulk on Tuesday 13th December 19:14
