was previously a long thread on here as to which cars they were also used on, but they are available here
If TVR Parts can supply at that price then it is a bargain and I would not even bother trying to sort the old ones, they will be worn and probably distorted and the springs will be past their best. I wonder whether TVR Parts eventually found the original source or have had them remade? They are not particularly difficult to fit but a bit of care is needed to ensure they work freely and that no rainwater can get into the car. Would be a very good idea to check and probably replace the operating cable at the same time, cycle brake cable is fine.
The problem is...I bought the car as pretty much a wreck, there is no locking mechanism, the only things that are there are the sprung pins bonded to the bonnet ( which appear to have rippled the bonnet moulding ! ) there are no 'latches' to retain the pins or any release cables , so I have no idea what I need or where they go.....seriously considering Aerocatches !!!!
That does make things a bit more difficult! My guess is someone broke the cables and had to force the bonnet open. Couple of questions:
1. Which model of S do you have? The bonnet release method does differ slightly on earlier cars?
2. Where the bonnet catches used to be are there any signs of the bolts to hold them in, or any signs of cables at all?

Agree with Phillpot, if there is anybody knowledgeable near you it could save you a great deal of time and possibly money if one of us can identify which are the bits that are missing.
It sounds like yours is a very late S1 or early S2 with the 2.9 engine rather than the 2.8? In which case it should have the centre pull bonnet release as Mike describes. If so, originally it would had a single cable running from one catch to the pull lever and on to the other catch. In which case the rear brake cable from a tandem can be used or I used two ordinary rear brake cables with a single 'chocolate block' joint attached to the pull lever to make fitting and adjustment a bit easier.

there is nothing wrong with Aerocatches several have them fitted - I went for push button catches but having problems with them.
If you carry out the bonnet hinge mod then not only does it open further without hitting the ground but will also stop it from lifting if the catches become unlatched

Not something I've tested very thoroughly, but on the odd time that both bonnet catches have popped the bonnet has only opened slightly and the ram air pressure has stopped it at quite a low angle; it's pretty alarming when it happens but I don't think it's actually as dangerous as it feels.

I had it several times in a few days when I was trying to get the pins in exactly the right place, the air flowing under it will lift it an inch or so and it'll just sit there. I wouldn't want to brake sharply like that but as long as you don't do anything daft it's not particularly dangerous as open bonnets go phillpot said:
Way to go...............

When I bought mine in 2009 it had leather belt style fasteners, on on each side of the bonnet.. stylish and very effective. [url]
Now running a standard set up as fortunately only the cables had snapped, lever and catches were still intact
I was planning to fit aero catches last year as I had catch issues. Again.. thankfully a proper alignment sorted that.so have a pair of locking aero catches surplus to requirements.
