What's the large circular hole for in the near side bulkhead?

Typical TVR, its a huge hole to allow the 20mm wiring loom to pass through! It has a large crommit to fill the dead space.

Yes, the main wiring looms come through there, sealed (I use that term loosely) with a grommet and a big dollop of Sikaflex type stuff.

This is my "solution", a piece of plastic pipe set into the bulkhead then packed with non setting sealant.

It's actually an inch and a quarter waste pipe coupler and some "Plumbers Mait" dyed black.

Excuse the mess, bit of bodywork in progress

Here is a rather more technical solution...... clicky

Sorry wink

I think the hole is so big because the loom has various plugs pre-attached that wouldn't come through a neat 20mm or so hole.

To fit that piece of pipe I had to slit it lengthwise and spring it over the loom, join is not visible along the bottom.

Had to go and check the S2, the loom comes through a similarly massive hole but higher up next to the now redundant anaconda hole.
I think there must be a hole that size but invisible on the driver side that let 3" of water in to the foot well last year on the return journey from Eindhoven, (the one we don't talk about)

I may look at fitting a hood to the top of the crommit.

I had very limited time driving the car prior to the rebuild, I guess I'll find the niggles once I get some mileage under my belt.

My general question on this subject matter is...
Where can one buy rubber grommets &/or blanking plugs suitable for GRP ?
IE. Ones that have a wider centre recess than the commonly available ones to suit metal holes.
(I know, there's no such thing as a metal hole ! OK, alright I meant holes in metal).

Good question!

Not actually used them myself but my "investigations" turned up grommets.co.uk

Looks like minimum £10 order?

In places I have used cable glands rather than grommets, seal better on something irregular like a taped wiring loom. like grommets, most are designed for thin metal panels but a bit of shopping around weill find both different sizes and longer threads.

What about something like this?

Just a thought, but there must be loads of stuff used in boat building suitable for waterproof seals through GRP.
