Looking at the below diagram, do the colours match up with your switch plugs colours

I'm hoping that the above diagram does match-up with the switch that you have and will keep fingers crossed and continue
Take a look at this diagram, all you need to do is wire the potentiometer in series with the Black with a Yellow Trace that is connecting from the switch to the intermittent wipe relay THERE IS MORE TO COME - THE JOBS NOT COMPLETE YET

I think that switch that you have has originaly come from a Omega and not a Corsa, there are plenty of modifications being made to wiper circuits for various cars using a Omega wiper switch and intermittent wipe relay
You need to get hold of a Omega intermittent wipe relay, see below images

and


The diagrams are showing a standard intermittent wipe relay that has no variable time delay
Once you have wired in your potentiometer the circuit will then need the correct relay that will sense the potentiometer variable switched resistances
The above 2 images are of a Omega intermittent wipe relay and they make a straight swap for a Corsa or other GM Models wipe relay but work in a different way

Here is the number off the above relay - 09 148 291
Here is another number that apparently is the same relay - 90 494 187

I will now wait for you to post here. I have more to come but I need to know that this is a goer in as much as cable colours matching from your switch plug to the diagram I have posted
There isn't much more to be done on this if it's a goer up to now

If this all works out ok, you will have a wipe when you wash

Should be able to get that relay.
wires are as you say but I have 2 black and yellows, looks like a .5 cable

OK This is looking good.
The Black with a Yellow Trace that you will be wiring the potentiometer to will be the one closest to the Blue wire
Do a continuity test - 53a and J position 1 intermittent with the plug connected to be sure

Going by the above diagram where the original motor is to be replaced by a Lucas 2 Speed motor, here are the colour codes of a lucas 2 speed wiper motor plug and what they should be connected to


1 - Earth - Black goes To Brown 1.5 cable (Earth)

2 - Auto Park switch - Brown/Light Green goes To Green 1.5 cable (31B @ relay)

3 - Fast - Blue/Light Green goes To White 1.5 cable (53B @ switch)

4 - Auto Park +ve supply - Green goes To Black/Violet 0.75 cable (15 @ relay) I would uprate this 0.75 cable to 1.5 from motor to relay and back to the fuse

5 - Slow - Red/Light Green goes To Yellow 1.5 Cable (53 @ switch)

The Corsa wiring is heavy enough for the job and having taken a long good look at the parking circuit, there are complications if attempting to wire a relay into the 1st speed supply from switch to motor, not only does a polarity reversal take place but also there is the possibility of an added relay being lazy in dropping out and that would cause blowing fuses if happening when close to the park position

There is nothing stopping you from wiring a relay into the 2nd speed, it would be good to check the current draw of the motor in 1st and 2nd speeds when running on a dry screen (be careful not to scratch the screen) The information I have mentions 2 AMPS draw for 1st speed and 4 AMPS draw for 2nd speed, a safe guestimate would be to double those figures for a dry screen and that is what you need to be interested in, current draws given for wet screens are a load of .........

As mentioned above, the corsa 1.5 switch cables (I think it's thinwall cable) is well up to the task of directly supplying a Lucas 2 speed motor, those 1.5 cables should handle up to 12 AMPS without a problem. Do check the current draw to be on the safe side, I appreciate you need to wire the vehicle or make a temporary loom to be able to run the motor with blades on the screen.
Perhaps you could ask someone at this forum to check the current draws on their vehicle

If in doubt ask, I will visit back here a few times each day to check all is a goer

Make sure to check the numbers on that Lucas wiper motor loom plug, I don't know if the picture I have posted is from the cable in end or the terminal to motor end, easy enough to check

Just waiting for the relay, wired up the wiper 5 pin plug, fitted the new fuse box, was going to do it on wed as working mon/tues

OK. There is one other thing that came to mind the other day
Wiper motors when the mechanism or motor moving parts get tight have a tendancy to burn out rather than blowing the fuse, blade fuses do blow quicker and better than the old glass type fuses that used to be wired into these Lucas wiper motor circuits but there is no 100% solution for saving a motor from overheating, the armatures in these motors have that many thin windings in them that they heat up rather than becoming a dead short and blowing the fuse
If the motor or mechanism becomes tight and gets hot while the car is being driven on a busy road or motorway, the driver will notice them stopping on the screen and switch them off, as you are no doubt aware.....switching off the wipers will not remove the supply to the motor until they reach their park position.
A hidden safety switch can be wired into the ignition supply at the wiper motor park switch and be used to stop the motor overheating if it locks up while wiping
