8k for an S3 with 99000 miles and ph stickers, reinforces the notion that prices are on the up.

So there is eagle eyes! I just took the trouble to look at all the pics, it is an E reg 1988 S1 with a 2.8Jetronic. How did he get it to breath well enough to get anywhere like 200bhp? Even Burton Power dont see that as on.

I was looking at this wondering how the MFI copes with a high lift cam. Very nice car all the same

Welcome to our friendly forum Mr.S, hope you are going to have fun in your new S.
It sounds like a good'un! Excellent choice thumbup
Will you be turning out for the Cobweb Run on Sunday 12th March? It's organised by the Tees Valley Region TVRCC, and is usually a great start to the year.
Starting from Scotch Corner I believe.

You'll find this forum is an invaluable source of help and advice should you need it, and if you come and join us at our various meets and trips ( See Events Wiki 2017: More busy ), you'll meet some good people.
If you get a moment, please could you enter your car details into our owners wiki? If the previous owner's details are on there, just substitute your own.
Any probs, just shout.

Cheers
Glen smile

The last time I said something similar about a car for sale, I was firstly, wrong (it wasn't a TVR S1!) and secondly I got the owner's back up so bad he turned into an 11yr old.

But.....

No chance in hell that is running 204bhp. It looks tidy enough, there is no chance that engine is running 204bhp, and if anyone buys the car I will happily dyno it free of charge to ease their mind. smile

Put it this way, I've never had a 2.8 Cologne-engined car (of any variant) better 142bhp on the rollers. Burton reckoned that was better than they've ever seen! So that's quite a jump from 140bhp-ish to 200bhp-ish. It's turbo, or go home. Nothing else will get you there, in the real world.

Best 2.9 was 174bhp (I think) but wasn't in an S. Best S 2.9 so far has been 165bhp (again, I think). Most are 160bhp.

Like Richard says No way in hell 200+ very slight mods to the heads and cam (stainless exhaust) Not all exhausts give a BHP+ but nothing that would give 50+ upgrade.
Sounds like he thinks it had 200+.
