''FULLY REFURBISHED GALVANISED CHASSIS 6 YEARS AGO''

Interesting that this was deemed 'impossible' without distorting the frame, some years ago!

Has there been a new process applied here that overcomes this problem??

BTW, hello and welcome!smile

Best 2.9 was 174bhp (I think) but wasn't in an S. Best S 2.9 so far has been 165bhp (again, I think). Most are 160bhp.
Mine went on the rollers at Austec few years ago, corrected power 184.9 BHP tongue out

Was that just speculation, did anyone distort a chassis?

I believe there are a Chimaera or two running around with galvanized chassis.

Back to the car, looks nice, enjoy whatever power you have wink

ETA: Ironic the day I mention Austec (who used to have a good name for sorting Ford Cologne V6's) this thread should get resurrected...Austec Racing

Thank you everyone, my intention is to enjoy the ride, have some issues and lay my woes at your collective feet to provide assistance.

I intend to drive as quickly as I can without being arrested or being dead. All assistance is gratefully accepted.

Busy busy. Will be tinkering when time allows or I feel like treating myself.

Any suggestions or advice greatly appreciated.

Congrats on the purchase (unless I've misread the slightly cryptic posts hehe) Regardless of bullst power claims, it looks a very tidy car, and has most of the boxes ticked. Offer still stands of a free dyno!

I've got a galvanised chassis, as have all the guys on here whose cars I've done chassis jobs on. Hot-dip galvanising is problematic, yes, but if you spray it on, you get around the issue of distorting things.

thanks I will try and take you up on that.

Yes the power is a little bit of a red herring, important thing is that it has been cared for well.

25k miles is a bit of a find.

Stephen,
You'll be putting a few miles on driving down from oop norf to Fort Fareham and back! driving
Sounds like you'll fit in with us very well. 150+ miles for breakfast is quite common in the S Club. Oh, plus the return journey. smile

Richard,
My S3c Percy has over 200 bhp and I claim my free dyno session! wink
I must go and have a word with Ric Wood just down the road and ask him what's the most power he ever got from his race Capris.

Ah, I understand now, just thermal zinc sprayed on the outside.
