Well, it officially Spring so it's time to start looking for ways to spend money on my S. I asked this questions a few years ago but to no avail, so it's time to try again.
The passenger wing/door? mirror on my car has previously suffered an impact. The black plastic surround trim around the opening is missing (Jag XJ220 mirrors).

Does anyone have a spare or know where I can find one? I need to replace the internal aluminium casting but have been putting it off until I get the missing trim part.

Many thanks in advance.

I'm sure I saw a pair posted TVR buy, sell and swap page on Facebook a few days ago.

They will need a respray as they are bright green at the moment if I remember correctly.

Should also be a few on eBay too.

They aren't cheap though. Is yours repairable with a bit of work???

When Racetech are asking £390 + VAT for a new one frown , second hand ones won't get any cheaper.

But what about the Mazak pyramid component? This, it seems to me, is designed to be sacrificial; it is destroyed every time you bump anything enthusiastically.

I managed to find one second-hand part from a UK CX expert with connections in France (had to buy a complete mirror) but has anybody found a source of pattern-parts? It seems to me there's a market opportunity here for somebody, and I've talked to a couple of people about 3D printing or lost-wax casting but without success.

The bit that's designed to break is widely available and about £20-£30 depending on who you get it from

Gents (Ladies?), I was aware I could easily get the aluminium part.

The problem part is the black plastic surround trim around the opening, but don't fancy paying £128 for it!!

Mine is missing, so no repair possible.

I've just got to hope that someone may have an unused mirror, possibly damaged, that they may have as a result of changing to a new style of wing mirror.

I prefer to keep my car totally original, but if I can't get the part, I either have to live with it, or change to a new style.

Thanks

Yeah, you can certainly get the glass and replacement motors but I've never seen that bit of plastic anywhere and can't remember where I think I've seen the frame or the cover.

There are some parts at http://cx-basis.de/eshop/advanced_search_result.ph...
Lotus or Marcos people might be worth looking at too.

What would you replace them with?

Thanks, guys. TVRParts have it listed as a Chim/Griff part only, so I hadn't seen it there!

That bit of trim looks like the sort of thing that could potentially be 3d printed, if you know anyone into CAD.

Even better

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-CX-2-0-REFLEX-SA...

You could probably fold the seats down and use it as a garage for your S ... that thing is massive!
