New V8S owner :)

Just driven just over 160 miles after purchasing a 1992 V8S today, and I must say I’m pretty impressed with it …..a great driving car, I’ve had 3 Griff 500s and a Chimaera 500 as well as a Taimar Turbo and 2 3000M’s one of which I converted to Sierra Cosworth power. I wrongly thought that the V8S was more like a poor man’s Chimaera but certainly not so!!
Im sure to be asking many questions on the forum as I’m new to the S series.
Body and interior are vey good apart from the carpets but the engine bay and front suspension probably have never been cleaned since day 1. So the first thing I will be doing is to remove the body and and rebuild from the ground up.
For the later cars I have rebuilt I have used Racing Green, who have now changed their name. Is there anyone better for obtaining spare parts for the S?
Everything works on the car except for the heater fan which only works on the high setting, so I will have to look at that during the rebuild, for those in the know is it likely to be the motor or less likely the switch.
The dash will need re veneering so I could do the heater at the same time
The 8 spoke Oz wheels are in need of a refurbishment so any recommendations please?

Good choice of car, heater could be the resistor (attached to the motor) burnt out or just a wire broken?
Many of the parts. as with other TVR's are from mainstream manufactures and can be bought far cheaper than paying " TVR Tax"

Yes there is a lot of "activity" on Facebook, lots of chat and banter and it's good for quickfire Q&As. It's also great source for parts and information on current events.
The PistonHeads archive is decades deep and remains the best source for technical information and support.
Different platforms serving different purposes. They shouldn't be put up in competition with one another

There's plenty on here about refurbishing these wheels. Here's one to get you started.I have a very nice set of shadow chrome Estorils with with very good Dunlops if you're interested. Came off my V8S.

Body and paint are pretty good, the interior except for the floor carpets and dash veneer are good. Please share some photos.
Wheels will also need a refurb.
Chassis isn’t beyond the point of no return, wishbones and trailing arms look sound, as is what I can see of the outriggers……but all will revealed once I lift the body!

Congratulations on the purchase, V8S is a great car when sorted.
Heater only running at fast speed is a common issue, try wiggling the switch in the middle position and you’ll probably find the fans fine and the switch is the issue. They are Lucas switches used on TR7 headlights etc. and can be picked up reasonably cheaply if you need to replace

The switches can be disassembled quite easily and the internals cleaned up. Just be very careful as you open them up as the little springs and fittings will fly all over the place.
I did a full set of these for a Tasmin I had a few years back. They all worked perfectly after a through clean and lube. All that is apart form the one where the springs disappeared never to be seen again

It helps if you create a separate post for each subject with a relevant title.
In the past a small number of us have used cryptic titles for our posts. These might have been amusing at the time but now we need to search back through the archive it slows things down a bit.
I'm one of the top ten on guilty list here!
To see what I mean search "tvr s series folding roof" and see what comes up.
Then search "they said it couldn't be done".
Great title at the time but 10 years on it doesn't help much. In fairness it only affects a very small number of posts and as most of us are still around we'll know where to look for the more obscure stuff.
Maybe in 10 or 15 years time someone will be pulling up one of your old posts to research how to fix a problem.
If anyone knows how to change an old title please let me know.
