Those seats are very nice but new MX seat covers can't cost nearly a grand can they? Or do you mean re-trimming a pair of MX5 seats in leather?
I re-trimmed the seats.
At least 2x / year there is a 10% discount weekend (Easter, Christmas, etc.), so if its not urgent, you can wait for this.

I recolour / recondition MX5 seats as a hobby, as well as other makes. However I don’t let in new leather - if the seats are that bad I won’t touch them. I have a pair of Mark 2 seats with separate headrests in Jaguar Saville grey at the moment. I am just finishing a pair of red Mark1 tombstones with speakers. I have a similar tan pair waiting restoration as well as two pairs of Mark2.5 tombstones. It is relatively straightforward to change the colour of leather. Happy to advise as I have lots of experience with these seats.

What does "However I don’t let in new leather..." mean?

It means that I don’t sew in any replacement panels

Mine have been completed..should be delivered by end of the week..my design/colour scheme won’t be for everyone but the good thing is..intatrim will make it to any design that you want..at around £1.2k for 2 seats is vfm..to me anyway..obviously you could just go for the seats without piping/eyelets/real leather etc and easily get the cost below £1k

Fair value for money compared to re-furbishing and re-trimming an original pair.

I don't envy you keeping them clean, but they look fantastic.

Thank you to all for your ideas and suggestions, through Pistonheads and this forum I have managed to locate a pair of MX5 seats from a fellow TVR owner which are no longer needed https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/10.gif
