.....I'm not on FB but I hear its where the fun is at. May have to rethink that then.
Plenty of fun on FB. It's ideal for chat and banter and buying stuff but PH is best for technical stuff. Threads on FB are very hard to follow and photos are too small. I know from experience that the algorithms which run FB are a real PIA and if you query any decisions you get suspended. I've been blocked from the FB market place with no reason & no method of reinstatement. Fascistbook would be more accurate laugh

Stick with PH for the technical help, you'll find it easier once you've been on a bit longer and jumped through the hoops.

Unless of course you want to share photos of your latest meal or your kitten, in which case Farcebook is perfect for you smile

Ha fair enough! In fairness so far I've managed to get her running and troubleshoot a few other things so shouldn't grumble too much really.

Having a missed a few waterpumps this last week I managed to buy a new one from ebay for £19 delivered so that's my job this weekend. I'm also going to do a compression test and some more permanent repairs to get her running right I.e. no misfire. Will report back.

While you're waiting for the pump to arrive you can do a bit of research on removing it. Here's just one of the many threads on here about the problems you might encounter. CLICY.

I appreciate this is the older 2.8 but the principal is the same.

Get plenty of Plusgas on those threads as well thumbup

Cheers bud I'll give it a thorough read. I've been dousing them in plus gas for 4 days now so hopefully no issues.

Btw, given how PH reacts to sales of items, I need to buy a replacement Southco latch for the removable hard top. If I could get a decent price break I'd happily organise a group buy in case anyone else was in need or interested. How would I best do that on here?

Step one: don't do it here do it on FaceBook, unfortunately there just aren't enough people checking in on here these days frown

Step two: Is it worth it? say you get 10% off, about the price of a Starbucks, all that repackaging, labelling, posting, chasing up payment etc. for a few quid!

I might seem a bit negative but I've been there, tried it. Enjoy that coffee, it'll be hard earnt wink

It's a fair point. I can get them at £10.19 a piece and I need to order one anyway (I'll get two to future proof). If they are prone to failure let me know :-)

This is from that 2019 thread....

Very clever thumbup It might be worth trying to leave the clip as loose as possible to avoid it failing at the next weakest point. Just enough to stop them rattling maybe? It's the tension from the rear stays which should do most of the work and the clips are just a bit of extra security to try and stop the panel lifting.
The whole assembly is only as secure as the little screws which hold the hook part of the clip onto the windscreen surround. If you use too much force you could pull the screws out or even over-stress the windscreen frame,

The stuff on here may be old, but so are the cars and the problems laugh

It's baking my brain how the smooth end is holding tight right now but I'm going to give this a go on my broken part before I pull the trigger on a replacement. I'm sure all will become clear once I start work.
