Has anyone else experienced a fuel guage that fluctuates massively between showing no petrol to the actual petrol level whilst running ? It occasionally settles down when travelling at a constant speed, but then will start to flick again for no aparent reason. Any ideas ? It''s a little frustrating as I am trying to figure out the average fuel consumption of my S3 - I''m getting between 25-30mpg at the moment (I think !!).

They all do that. Turn left and the guage goes down, turn right and it will go up. It's just a big empty tank with a float at one end. You can't use a guage to work out fuel consumption! Top up the tank, use most of it, then compare the amount it takes to refill against the miles you have covered. Roy Edited by Roy C on Monday 13th August 09:51

Mine doesn't steam up - but then again it seems fairly accurate as well!!

Yes, my S1 instruments steam up, too! I am pleased to hear that it happens to others... Voltmeter has a mind of it's own - but it all adds to the driving experience!!

Mine steam up as well - but it's only the fuel guage that has a mind of it's own (so far anyway !)

All my guages steam up, except for the tachometer which was replaced when it developed a mind of it's own.
