Where/how can I repair my plastic rear screen?

I have a small tear or cut in the middle of my plastic rear screen. It's only about a centimetre long and does not let any water in, but I was wondering if anyone has managed a repair.
I was thinking of some sort of plastic weld if it exists.
Also has anyone tried Hindsight Plastic Rear Screen Restorer? Is it any better than the Renovo Window Polish (I've not tried either but tempted to give Renovo a try first as it's only a fiver).

The plastic gets less flexible with age (and exposure to sunlight) and eventually splits where the strain is greatest when folded down (usually behind where the roof stays hinge). Replacement requires the hoop and
rear roof section to be removed so that a new piece of plastic can be sewn in by machine. The cheapest price I've heard of for this was £100. Mine is overdue and patched inside and out with Scotch clear repair tape.

My dad has just repaired my rear screen with some tape he gets from work.
He saw the hole I had and the tear and told me to leave it alone and he'd sort it.
Fair enough I thought and tonight as I'm at my parents for a couple of days he was away working on it.
It's now taped up and although not inconspicuous I was intrigued as to what was so damn good about this tape.
It transpires that the tape he has used is the stuff they put onto the leading edge of propellers on aircraft to stop them getting pitted by grit and water. Bloody tough stuff and has done a great repair if you can get hold of it !!
