Leven stalks for the S..!
Discussion
I had only just got my S when this thread first appeared - Didn't even know what leven stalks were
I know a couple of other guys on here who also bought at around the same time.
any chance this can be resurrected - Any other ways to reach the 1500 or so S owners other than pistonheads & sprint??

To be honest, I think its a case of can't be bothered to do S bits (other than the really easy stuff) as they are making enough out of the Griff and Chim bits, I can't believe for one second that leven think that if they had stalks made that the stalks would not sell and they would lose money regardless of how many people had pre-ordered (even if they didn't sell like hot cakes, they would sell eventually). They should just get some done and see how they go, I bet if they sold them at 100% mark up, they would still sell.
It just does my head in, that the S series always seems to get overlooked/dismissed.
There, rant over....
Roy.

I feel it appropiate to reply to the criticisms pointed at us (Leven).
1. "...I think its a case of can't be bothered to do S bits".... NOT TRUE. We have to be commercial with our products in order to offer a professional service. We make the parts that we have been asked for AND sell.
In the past we have developed other S specific items and had NO INTEREST. 'Burnt fingers' springs to mind.
2. " ....making enought out of Griff and Chimaera bits,..." TRUE. You must remember that there were more of these models made AND more of the owners buy accessories.
3. "... they should just get some done and see how they go..." Would he like to fund the development cost and buy the first batch?
4. The design is quite complex to cope with the horn button operation and fitting to the switch. If it is to be a professional job then there is a substantioal amount of development time and cost involved. Just look back in this thread at LeeBee's comments!
4. It would appear that LeeBee wanted to take up the challange and we wish him the best of luck. There is no point in 2 of us competing for a small market.
5. At the start of this project we explained all the above to 2 very keen S owners who believed that there was a demand. We said we would consider it based on interest they could generate. The lack of results dissapointed even them!
Roy, you should think why "..the S series always seems to get overlooked/dismissed"

ok... I fully understand that companies need to be commercial about the product they develop and sell, but companies in general just kinda give the impression that unless they are going to make a killing then there is no point in going ahead. At the end of the day, if after all things considered you only make 1p, you have made a profit. I know that a company couldn't survive on just 1p profit, but if their other products are already making enough profit to keep them above water then what would it matter.
The comments I made were a bit over the top and were made out of frustration of yet another accessory for the S going down the pan. I do think it unfair to suggest however that given my comments I should be willing or able to finance development costs myself, being an individual and not a company.
Perhaps if LeeBee was willing you could work together to somehow keep this project going until more support could be raised.
Personally, I have no idea why the S series cars are overlooked and dismissed.
Roy.
I've supported Leven where I can, and even done some digging the archives for part numbers for the Ford steering column. It is not a particularly easy engineering job, and at no point do I recall Leven making any promises... although they did spend some considerable time looking over my S and taking measurements.
Rozza, your point about making any profit is all well and good, but if you were only going to make a penny, would YOU do it? Not worth it, is it chap...

I believe my point still stands - the only 'advertising' was here on Pistonheads, and how many S owners read here?
An advert in Sprint or a classic car magazine might well have got better results, for little outlay (for a company).
But then, what do I know...
More than enough S owners on here IMHO...
I`m with page3 here, there does seem to be quite a few S owners use PH granted, but it seems most of them only chat in the general TVR area and not this one. I reckon that if more effort was given to spreading the word, perhaps then we would have drummed up enough interest. It seems we will never know now.

We've had a few more new S owners in the past few months; should we start a show of hands to see who is seriously interested?
I'd tried the same thing with ally switches and got the same result, quite a few, but not enough serious interest.
I'll give it one last go..
Rather than clogging up the forum, mail me through my profile with a yes for stalks and/or a yes for switches and what your configuration is like, (i.e. left to right I've got 2 speed fan, rear fog, front fog and 2 dash light settings) and I'll build up a list when the emails come in and keep you all posted as and when it happens..
Better still, mail Podie
Alternatively, anyone thought of revamping the panel the switches are attached to and fitting Griff switch gear?
