Spent 5 hours of wasted sunshine on Sunday trying to eliminate a loud squek from passenger door. Followed the bible (accurate as always apart from a bonus screw) and got interior panel off. Applied oil to both hinges and hey presto - no bloody difference. Any suggestions?

Mine's the same. Leave it! Get the missus to climb over the door if the noise bothers you.

Mine was the same, needed a new door hinge bush.

Not the hinge seized in the door and moving in the body is it? If so you can look forward to the door falling off one of these days! (Happened to me three times in the last 120,000 miles.

I would not ignore this whatever the cause because if the door drops it'll start knocking against the body and damaging your paint. The other things that's vaguely possible is that the hinge could sieze completely and then knacker the captive bolts in the body. Either way I'd get it sorted personally. LeeBee in Oxford did mine.

I like Crossle's advice but suspect it's not a long term solution. Anybody have Leebee's details?

Spray on grease and WD40. Gallons of it. Wonderful stuff.

(I just did that to my driver door hinges last night, coincidentally enough - I still haven't cleaned the blood off the door trims... why can I never ever take bits off cars without slicing myself apart?)

If you put grease on and then wd40 you'll wash out all the grease I would have thought.

Personally I wouldn't use WD40 on anything. It's cr*p at penetration imo. It washes grease out so I wouldn't use it on anything that had been greased including hinges, door locks or anything like that. Finally it dries to a powder after a while and that has the opposite effect you were initially after I suspect.

Each to their own though

my doors never squeaked until thursday when Psychobert came over to head off for le mans and said "your car is odd, the doors dont squeak" within 48 hours, the passenger door squeaked". The heat expansion point sounds good as it was very warm at LM and now we are back in blighty it isnt squeaking AFAIK.

Next time Psychobert shall say "this is very odd, you dont have a group of naked 21 year old girls sat all over your car".

Or you could just cough loudly when you open the door.

I was doing that but I gave myself a sore throat - had a drink of WD40 and now that's better too.
