End of a Beautiful Relationship
Discussion
My aim is to keep a note of every step, hopefully with some corresponding photos, and then publish the process on a web page. This grand plan may well come to nothing when I get stuck in, but I reckon it's probably fairly essential to ensure I remember to replace everything.
If I get the instructions sorted out I'll post a link to them on here.

Oh that one! Yes, I've nicked the instructions from that one already.

one more thing if you haven't got one in vest in a nut splitter as some of them bolts are bound to be rusted solid especially the tank cradle ones
I was wondering whether or not I should get a nut splitter, so that's made my mind up.
Edited to say that I went to Halfords at lunchtime and discovered that a nut splitter is £25, so I decided that if I need one tomorrow I'll just nip out to Halford at that point and buy one.
Every £25 counts at the moment!

Well, things didn't go quite according to plan this weekend. I tackled the disconnection process as planned, but came across a few issues that meant I wasn't in a position to get the body off on Sunday as hoped.
Therefore when the car was taken away on the trailer today, it was with the body in place, albeit without the bonnet, and with a lot of the ancillaries disconnected. I was, accordingly, expecting a noticeably bigger bill to be the outcome.
However, I've just spoken to Richard Moore (who seems like a top guy), who told me they can get sufficient access to the outriggers by simply lifting the body (as I'd originally hoped), rather than completely removing it, and will be able to do all the necessary replacement work plus a general tidy of the rest of the chassis for a price that's still within my budget!
Things could obviously change over the course of the week, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and walking with a definite spring in my step now!

Well, everythings done and dusted. Richard from Moore Racing dropped the car back about midday on Friday, I started the reconnection work in the afternoon and finished it yesterday (Saturday) afternoon. Went for a quick test drive in the evening, and everything is well in the world again!
Richard also dropped off the sections of the outriggers that they replaced:
It doesn't show up very well in the picture, but both side on the top of the main length of the tube where the body mounting joins there's a large hole (lighter section on the top tube)! I feel much happier knowing that there's nice new tubing where that collection of rust and holes used to be!
I'm really pleased with the job that Moore Racing did; as well as the fabrication and welding work they inspected and painted (where necessary) the rest of the chassis and suspension (wishbones, trailing arms etc.) and gave it all a coat of waxoyl... all this for the princely sum of £500 (excluding VAT and the £80 collection and delivery charge). On top of all that, Richard Moore seems like a top guy, so they'll definitely get a recommendation from me!
Just got to sort out another MoT next week and hope they don't find anything else!
