Can anybody help me. I need to replace the fuel tank on my V8S and am looking for a reliable source as TVR no longer supply them. The present tank has a slow seepage coming from the collar on the side which holds the sender unit assembly. I have replaced the locking ring and seal and also used some Cold Weld around the area but it looks like the only course of action left is the expensive one! Any advice would be much appreciated before I succumb to the fumes emanating from the garage.

Cheers

I believe the tank is common to all S series. Do a search of the S threads, its been raised before many times, I recall that David Geralds do a Stainless replacement, not sure of the price though but I would imagine into the £hundereds.

A pretty good response three posts inside 2 minutes giving the same answer, didn't realise they were so expensive though. As an aside didn't Leebee go down the road of getting stainless tanks made, or is that my poor memory again .

Thanks guys. So far I guess I'll have to raid the piggy bank and get in touch with David Gerald. It's that or stop at every petrol station to maintain a quarter tank level!

No you are quite right, it is still in the pipeline although maybe a little more important now, I can probably get one made if I have an old one as a pattern. Was thinking of powder coated aluminium instead of stainless

Also Steve Reid (01928 719267) supplied
my S2 tank £345 +vat + carriage.

There is a difference between S1 and S2 so
V8S might be unique as well.

Doing bodge repairs on fuel tanks which sit directly above the exhaust system never seem a good idea to me. How much is the car worth compared to a fuel tank. Escaping from a burning TVR doesn't appeal either and it will never fix itself, it will only ever get worse.
ps V8S fuel tanks are specific to V8S's, V6 tanks will not fit because of the routing of the exhaust system
