Been having an offline conversation with RudeGirl which has been enormously helpful. I hadn't previously grasped the point that the spacesaver tyre is completely pointless (a completely different diameter for fks sake !)

Looks like we'll be packing tyreweld and using the extra space for more gubbins instead !

There is of course a problem that tyre weld cannot fix that the space saver can! If you was to have a blowout in the middle of nowhere... at least the space saver can get you somewhere useful if this was to happen. I took both tyre weld and space saver when we went to Le Mans.
