Having picked the car up on Monday evening as a first time TVR owner, I've taken my jacket off, thrown it into the boot, closed the boot (gently) and realised I can't get back into the car!

I've got until 5.00pm to work out how to open the boot from the outside - I think I've seen stuff about getting in when battery's flat, but haven't a clue how to do it?

The car's a 1991 S3 in dark blue and in good nick, I think. You're all right about the smile factor - the GOG stands for "grumpy old git" and I might have to change it - assuming I can get back into the car

Oops - meant to preview above, not post

I don't know how to do it but thought it may give you hope as the 5pm deadline draws nearer! - Hopefully Shnozz will read your post before the day is out and save the day!

Rog - I take it that Ted has mailed you the necessary information?

Ted - I thought your quick release was via the hole in the offside rear lights

This wouldn't work on mine as the windows are immobilised when the alarm arms! But if you get stuck there is another non-damaging way to get into the cabin of any of the soft top TVRs, and into the S series boot.

Quite right WG - don't want to give thieves any extra help, but I wouldn't mind knowing - any chance GreenV8S could email me with those non-damaging ways?

If GreenV8S is watching thread, plse check e mails.

PetrolTed's idea didn't work on my S3, but I need any other suggestions to be sent to a work address not my pistonheads one.

Happy to compile all ideas collected and then to act as focal point for anyone else who's in bother

So, tried two suggestions without success although second which involved connecting various terminals was a bit scary, working lying on my back with my head stuffed up the passeger tunnel in a dark multi storey.

Eventually lost bottle, considered retreat as better plan and got mate to run me home for spare keys.

Car back in garage at home, waiting for me to practice on it tomorrow

Rog,
Welcome to the wonderful world of TVR and the madhouse that is the S series forum. As you have found out the help on here is second to none . Enjoy the motor, I have a half mile journey to pick up the papers that regularly turns into a 20 - 30 mile ramble

Sorry it didn't work out for you Roger. Must admit that wiring can be pretty intimidating at the best of times let alone in a dark car park. Worth having another look in daylight if you get the chance, because once you've worked out what to do, it is a quick and simple way into the boot.
