Steering Wheel
Discussion
AFAIK the leather ones as shown in Matt's photo were the original (although I have seen different bosses so that some cars have only 5 screw points). Any wooden wheel was either specced at purchase or bought aftermarket.
Mine had a wood wheel and personally I preferred the feel of the leather so I bought a replacement one and recently (last week) sold the old wood one.
a pic of the old wood one
and the replacement "original"
personal choice as someone said earlier in the thread.

Regarding the "personal" comments: the Personal wheels are the MOMO Personal range (with a little crown over the word "Personal". These are standard fitments to the Chim and Griff however are retro fitted into S's sometimes. Lurch, it sounds like you've got one of these..!?

Matt.

Wood was optional. Leather was standard fit. Had both but would n't touch a wooden wheel again. Very slippy indeed.

The original wheels (as in M@H and Shnozz's pics) were MotoLita (Thruxton). www.motolita.com/

Shnozz, your wooden wheel is not like mine as mine has three spokes and a smaller boss. I would post a picture here but don't know how, please enlighten me.
Dave
mine is a moto-lita boss (the 9 screws as against your 5) - yours is the Momo Personal wheel.....
I have seen early and late cars with either so I think it was a typical TVR "lets fit whatever is lying closer to us at the time" thing.
erm, I am a bit of a technophobe so probably not the best person to describe how to post pics

No it isn't I'm afriad.. All MOMO wheels have a 2 3/4" diameter six bolt hole mounting pattern, so 5 bolts ain't a MOMO.. now I'm really really confused. !!
Matt.
Edited to add, or was the 5 a guess ?

No probs... you can get a Boss that takes the MOMO wheel and fit it to the S.. I'm guessing that Lurch has 6 bolts on his wheel not 5, that all in which case its the MOMO, and theres no pointin him tracking down a wood wheel without the correct Boss to retro-fit it too.
