Just a quick note to say that I'm about to join you all in ownership of a TVR.
Hopefully I'll pick it up this Friday or Saturday.
S3, Storm Grey, Black Hood.
I'm just waiting for the owner to get the car MOT'd (hopefully no scares on the chassis).
First jobs to sort out are:
-New Dash and door runners, as the old one is in poor condition. I don't know whether to replace it with wood, leather or something else. I also fancy changing the switch gear to something more solid and modern.
-Get the car over a pit and scrape and paint the chassis before winter, I'll use that POD-15 paint that people here have been raving about.
-General clean up and polish, especialy the engine, I do like a well detailed engine, that's why I bought this one as the engine and Chassis were rust free with no oil stains etc. Also the bodywork is spot on with only a single star crack on the bonnet.
I'm really looking forward to working on the Tiv, I'm one of these people that enjoy working on mechanics as much a driving/riding them.

Whereabouts in the Thames Valley are you? If you're in the Reading area then come along to the Berks TVRCC meet - it'll be good to have another S3 there.

Been TVRless fopr a couple of weeks now, (dodgy windscreen replacement left me with a cut up dash and its not a simple job to fix..). Amazed at how much I've saved now I'm not driving anywhere.. Means I get a really long run sometime as soon as I get the car back.. Week touring around somewhere I feel is due..

These last couple of days are seriously beginning to drag.
It will take a while to get used to the S3 as I'm moving from a Laguna Diesel so the power form the rear wheel and exhaust note should prove quite a shock.
I need to glue the rear view mirror back on,then it's time to give the car it's first polish.
When I said door runners I meant the wood strips that run horizontaly along the doors, I'm not sure if I like wood in a car (may get used to it) So I was thinking of polished aluminium for the door strips.

too late.
Same problem, appears to be leaking due to insufficient mastic at the top. Drips off the headlining down the mirror.
Oh well, at least its only rained once in the last 11 weeks
Long and painful story here.. Mine leaked at the bottom too - all my electrics got piss wet through 1st time it rained.. Am in the process of getting it sorted, but its not been easy.. Tripps had similar problems a while back with the same company I originally used. If you are tempted to take the screen out to put it in properly, it will almost certainly break. You might be able to get it sorted under warantee from the people who did the work in the 1st place - drop me a line if you get stuck or want to talk it through.

They are metal strips, painted or veneered to look like wood. You can try to polish the bare metal or cover them with plastic film with a carbon fibre / wood / whatever finish.
Getting the strips means removing the door cards - a process involving removing a certain amount of skin
, as you try to find the nut that holds the door card on with your arm through the speaker hole. Have fun! I seen one with carbonfibre dash/door plates looked very trick....should work well with the Storm Grey/Black colours. While you've got the doors apart dont forget to check and tighten all the window frame bolts and apply a little thread-lock.

Picked up the S3 yesterday and it's awesome, I've never had so much fun other than racing my bike. The exhaust note is stunning especially when hard on the gas.
Today myself and my girlfriend spent all day cleaning the car ( she loves it aswell). We now have a gleaming example, now I just need a replacement dash and switch plate, re-paint and waxoil the chassis and then have the drivers seat restuffed and the car will be perfect.
I am so chuffed with the car, I didn't realise a car could be so enjoyable.
