Hello All

Recently purchased S3. Car great apart from one thing, fuel pump is annoyingly noisy, particularly if the car is hot. Is this normal? and does it really live in the fuel tank?

Many Thanks

The pump on my S3 is very quiet it ticks for a few seconds as it primes but that is all.
According to the bible, the pump is located in the transmission tunnel in front of the diff, not in the tank.
If you do not have a copy of the Steve Heath's Bible (The S Series) then it is a worthwile investment, buy it from www.tvrcc.com/index.htm in the Regalia section or check Steve's website www.tvrbooks.co.uk/.

If its the same as an S1, I just bought one last weeek, the fuel pump was making a terible noise when it got hot, Have you listend in the fuel tank when the engines running? If you get a bubbling/sucking sound the pumps on its way out. Change it before it packs up & leaves u standed like mine did!! I got one for £67 (Bosh) all parts.

Thanks for reply

Ended up speaking to Tower TVR on north London. The guy there advised me that its not that odd for the fuel pump to be noisy, particulary in hot weather. I have now completed 2k miles and the car seems fine.

Cheers

I noticed that my fuel pump was noisy on my return from Mania (after being stuck in traffic on the M1 on the second hotest day of the year). But since then it's gone back to its normal "silent running". It's only 2 months old (I had a lot of fuel pump problems earlier in the year) and is located down in front of the diff.
