Hi Guys.

I have managed to locate a car I'd possibly like to get, and have also mailed the owner of the one Podie directed me to. But I now have a couple more questions.

"More questions!" I hear you ask, "Does this boy never give up?!"

Unfortunately when I get a car I have to know everything about them. Sorry.

1). Can you get a 6 speed box fitted to them? With an overdrive gear?

2). How tunable is the engine?

3). I read the differences between the S, S2, and S3. It kinda seems that the S2, and S3 are better cars. Any truth in this?

4). Some of the cars that I have seen have 90,000 miles + on them, surely this is a lot?

5). Where and what sort of other upgrades can I get? (suspension, bodywork, everything.)

Thanks guys.

Get a copy of the bible then

No.

2). How tunable is the engine?

Depends which one. See Burton Power but if you want more power get a V8S.

Yes.

4). Some of the cars that I have seen have 90,000 miles + on them, surely this is a lot?

Some of these cars are getting to be 15 to 20 years old. That is only 6k miles per year. TVR owners like to drive them not look at them

You can change whatever you want but how much budget do you have. See www.t-v-r-services.co.uk for some ideas.

Mine has 103,000 on the clock and aside from a smokey engine is a fine car

I should point out that I know nothing about the car in the ad... I merely pointed it out, as you were looking for one, and it fitted your budget.

If you're already stretching to buy your S, and gonna get caned by the insurance for your age, don't worry about mods - the cars are good already!

S1 - 2.8, harsh suspension
S2 - 2.9, suspension improved
S3 - revised trailing arms, longer doors, revised interior, front inner arches cut crap thrown at outriggers etc.
S4 - don't worry about it, there aren't any!

unless you need bigger doors, or can't do with the earlier interior - good S2 is prob. best bet. Decent S3 is gonna rush you £7k, so you could save a grand with an S2 (will pay for insurance!)

Miles less important than condition of chassis etc. Engines - check cooling, but otherwise pretty bombproof.

Yep, just by the sounds of all the upgrades.
