Exactly, it was the comments from the griff500 drivers at the last meet who couldn't keep up on the uphill chugg out of West Meon with Graham that got my ears pricking , bloody quick car thats all i'll say .

How's the search going Phil, I don't buy the 'you haven't got the time at the moment' as you got Rob Ingleby to source the last one .

Hary

Grahams car is simply awesome thats all I can say. If i had the time, the money and the use of a second car, I would have been v tempted to do a similar conversion. If it comes up for sale in the future, I would be sorely tempted (although with the money Graham has chucked at it me thinks that is pretty unlikely)

You know me on the search for cars Harry, cards close to the chest. However, pleased to confirm that Mr Aggar has come up trumps. I can only apologise for what you are about to see Harry.....check the profile. Sorry mate, but at least the colour is ok yes?

I'm having a similar problem. Trying to locate a good S Series in the hampshire area. None of the dealers have one..!! Most are a lot further afield. I will also be at the meet tonight. C U There.

Harry, I'm sure that there was a bit of a tail wind that night and the Griff's more rounded rump mean't that it had less effect on CK's car than the S

As to the Sprinting, the list of excuses is huge , but the major reason is that we didn't get the car really sorted until well into the season, and by then the sailing season had started, and I know I can be competitive on the wet stuff but not so sure about the black stuff

Phil - I knew there was a hidden agenda - nice car and a great colour! When do you get it?

Cheers

Graham

yeah, did read your words of caution. Dont pick her up til saturday mate so nothing to report as yet. As you will know, I use my TVR's daily. I did toy with idea of a runaround but i think i would really miss not being in the TVR, even if some rainy crappy days its not much fun, there are times on the same journey when you want to be sat in the Tiv.

The S was a great car and responded nicely to being used daily. Was fantastically reliable. However, having driving a few Chims I ended up concluding it would be a better everyday car, albeit just from my test drives I can see where you are coming from when you talk of the loss of rawness that the S has definately got. The Chim is more refined and when you accelerate quickly it doesnt feel as though you are pushing on as much as it did in the S. The difference is more that you suddenly notice cars dissapearing behind you rather rapidly when the S was edging away from them. When you look at the speedo it confirms that the car is significantly quicker, but doesnt feel as "urgent". Certainly it feels more steady at high speed and the brakes are a vast improvement.

Once I have lived with the new one for a while i will let you know how i get on. Hopefully i wont be dissapointed but once in the world of TVR's its never too difficult to swap to another model. Now, how much would insurance be on a cerb.....

adam - if you want to make your way over to hedge end i can lift you up to a hants meet and i am sure one of the chaps there will take you out in an S. Just dont go in HarryW's V8S or Graham's (GBGaffer) Cosworth powered one or you would never be satisfied with a V6 again!

Thanks for the offers. Unfortuanately Im still doing the busy thing that I have been doing for a while now.
Perhaps next months meet if the offer is still there.

schnozz, I noticed the profile change earlier too. See the "sub 5 sec, sub £5K" thread.

Shouldnt take too long in a Tiv (apart from the fuel stops!).
As long as Im back in time for tea

I have been ignoring the high milage S3's. (anything over 75K ish). Am I wrong to do this?

I think you may be missing out on some potentially good cars by restricting yourself to lower mileages. The cars definitely prefer to be used rather than stored. It's all about condition and how well they have been cared for. Don't forget these cars are over 11/12 years old. Yes if the car has done a lot of miles then things will need to be replaced but things that needed replacing earlier on will already have been done, hopefully.

I would not worry so much about the mileage and go for one in good condition that has been cared for.

Anyway once you've bought it you'll be wanting to drive it so much that if it was a low mileage car it won't be for long.

Hi Phil,

Theres one thing you'll have to tell me about you and your Chimaera once you've driven it about for a bit, but the main thing I lost on the change of cars was "the grin".

Some days I was out in the S, I really couldn't stop smirking on overtaking etc, however with the Chimaera I just don't get it at all.. The cars bloody fast, competent, scary and all that, but it just doesnt give me the excitable grin that I had with the S.. Would be interested to hear your comments once you've driven it around for a bit.

All the best with it (again)

Cheers,
Matt.

Nice one Shnozz!

I'd you still going to be using the Chim as an everyday car, I'd be interested to know how running costs compare to the S.

Have fun!
