Right here are my first S impressions.

The Pros:

The noise, it's sooooo good when you put your foot down, although not as loud as my mini.

Interior is comfortable, but my speakers suck.

Handling is great, went for a blast with my little bro in his mini yesterday, in the wet might I add, easily kept up round a bend and could have had him when I hit the straight if he didn't have to slow down for numpties.

Fantastic car all round.

The Cons

Ummm... electrics??? What were TVR thinking? They are more disorganised than a minis. Wipers went and had to fiddle around for ages to get them working. Fuel gauge does not work at all , neither does oil pressure one. Will fix either today or Saturday.

Very heavy steering when going slowly coupled with poor turning circle makes turning around in my parents drive hard.

Roof leaks a bit. Car has to sit outside. Got a big car cover though, also going to get a shower cap for leaving outside work.

Fuel consumption is bad compared to the 1.4 polo. But it's soo much faster!!

Love it, hope I can keep it.

Interior is comfortable, but my speakers suck. (Just listen to the engine then.)

Handling is great, went for a blast with my little bro in his mini yesterday, in the wet might I add, easily kept up round a bend and could have had him when I hit the straight if he didn't have to slow down for numpties. (Have never lost mine, although be careful in the wet, there is a very fine line between grip and slip.)

Fantastic car all round.

Ummm... electrics??? What were TVR thinking? They are more disorganised than a minis. Wipers went and had to fiddle around for ages to get them working. Fuel gauge does not work at all , neither does oil pressure one. Will fix either today or Saturday. (They all do that sir, good luck with the fuel guage, senders are a regular failure and are no longer made.)

Very heavy steering when going slowly coupled with poor turning circle makes turning around in my parents drive hard. (Do they have a gravel drive!! Problem is easily solved.... )

Roof leaks a bit. Car has to sit outside. Got a big car cover though, also going to get a shower cap for leaving outside work. (Make sure it is a good cover. During prolonged rain you can get water leaking through contact of the surfaces.)

Fuel consumption is bad compared to the 1.4 polo. But it's soo much faster!! (Anything between 15 and 30 mpg, depending on driving style.)

Love it, hope I can keep it.

I take it you've found the fuse box, then? Never seen anything like it!

Once you've ground out your exhaust a few times, you can add that to your cons list, but as you said so worth it. If the dashboard had a grin factor gauge on it - it would be up to 'eleven'!!

BTW - steering is bad at low speed, but much worse if pressures aren't right (22front/24rear) so worth checking regularly.

How far did you have to bend over in the end to take the insurance hit?

Get yourself a sports exhaust, you can go as loud as you like, Johno’s old one (from Leebee I believe) was rather noisy, also used to spit flames but got a bit much on long journeys, and that’s from the car in front

Get yourself some new speakers, does it have rears fitted? If not some 61/2”s in the rear sound good, must get around to fitting the rear speakers to the Griff actually.

The electrics do play up from time to time but the more it’s used the better they seem to get.

Get yourself some of the waterproofing stuff, do a search on here for different recommended makes.

Call it snobbery, but i'm a little worried about the comparisons between a TVR & minis / Vw polos.

Careful with car covers as I have a fleece lined one which still affected my paintwork.Advice warning. Do not put cover on when car is wet and the engine is warm. It makes a BLOOMING mess of your paintwork!

I have moved house to provide my TVR with its new centrally heated bedroom. Now that's commitment for you!

Thomsons Waterseal works well, but you need quite a few coats. Definitely the first thing to try when solving a leak.

The S series wiring is miles ahead of the Vixen's at least the wires are different colours so you have a cat in hells chance of tracing a wire and the fuses in the fuse box are all together rather than a miriard of in line fuses.

Best fun I've had on four wheels for years....
