What is the deal with the throttle cable, whay do they break so often, and where can I get a spare?

Also, does anybody happen to know what car the fuel tank sender unit is off as I reckon mine is a bit dodgy and want to relace it soon. The fuel gauge tend to wark about 20% of the time.

Do a search on the S threads, this has been mention a few times. I think Shnozz has posted the part number before along with some handy tips. Yes it is worth having a spare.

Ford 2.9 Granada 1990 Manual :-

Throttle Cable - Ford Part No 6720349
In my opinion it is also worth buying an End Retaining Clip - Ford Part No 6142979 just in case you lose/misplace the existing clip.

This sounds more like a dodgy electrical connection.

check the primary earth at the rear of the car, also depending on the sender unit your tank earth will be on the tank or the sender ,clean these up ,failing that good be a dodgy sender unit
IIRC if you short out earth to live feed on sender the gauge should shoot to the top at stay there which then suggests a faulty sender unit
