So would it be fair to say they are valued more on the Series rather than the year/letter, obviously in relation to mileage/condition?
Yes, if i think i've undersood correctly
1 Everybody should buy on condition first examples check the PH classifieds there is an S3 being offered for less than a S1 (or 1.5)
2 Mileage is a contensious(sp) issue obviously better for resale on lower milege though
3 if you found two cars with similar miles/condition always buy the latter one as there is more chance of minor niggles being sorted and better build quality
HTH
Anyone got any thoughts on David Gerard TVR, as they are only about 10miles from me?
Found a couple very nice sounding S3's at £6995 at two different main dealers, they both could be tempting if there was room for movement on price.
Or the other side of the coin is a very nice S1 for £5k, just looking at another thread re chassis rust, definately No1 priority to check!
You people are bad for my wealth! lol

agree with mr pies - when i bought mine i checked the chassis carefully because i figured everything else is easily repairable. Get a good light and feel over the top of the outriggers under the body, and also (specially) behind the front wheel arch which is a crud trap.
My front brakes were totally knacked - pads gone, discs rusted and out of true, car vibrated like a jackhammer if you even touched the brakes - renewed the lot at the local motor factors for £35 - try that with a lotus!!
BTW pies, relating to your dates earlier, mine is an early 1990 S3C, long doors, S3 dash etc - I think maybe the dates are a bit flexible, like most of the parts?
good luck!

Go on do it......you'll never regret it.
Mines a 1989 S1 with a 2.9 Engine (otherwise known as an S1.5). Mines in great nick under and over - only done 41k miles, paid more than you budget, but its been worth it. Only spent 150 quid on it in last 6 months and most of that was cosmetic stuff. (over 2.5k miles) Starts first time every time.......and sounds as good as it looks!

I thought S3 onwards had them and was optional on S2!?
I was told that you can test by booting it from standing start and if you have 2 even skid marks then you have an LSD if not, then you dont. Dunno how accurate or true this is.

Someone told me S3's don't have an LSD, but don't know if that's true or not.

Am I right to believe that only the S3C on has an LSD?
The LSD was only fitted to the S3C, not the S3.
I'm alright Jack!
