Well, I`ve never been dazzled by them, if they are dipped, how can you be? And I must be a , as I use them on the Rover as it gives me a better view of the road which is a good thing IMO.
Roy,

It's actually illegal to use front fog lights unless visibility is reduced to 100 metres or less, and you stand a chance of being pulled over for having them on.

The highway code has a few references to front fog lights, all using the words MUST and MUST NOT indicating that they are legal requirements.

The Highway Code said:
Many of the rules in the Code are legal requirements, and if you disobey these rules you are committing a criminal offence. You may be fined, given penalty points on your license or be disqualified from driving. In the most serious cases you may be sent to prison. Such rules are identified by the use of the words MUST / MUST NOT. In addition the rule includes an abbreviated reference to the legislation which creates the offence.

The Highway Code said:
You MUST NOT use any lights in a way which would dazzle or cause discomfort to other road users
use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves to avoid dazzling other road users.

The Highway Code said:
You MUST use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced, generally when you cannot see for more than 100 metres (328 feet). You may also use front or rear fog lights but you MUST switch them off when visibility improves (see Rule 211).

The Highway Code said:
You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 201) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves.

Roy, Max-Power muppets who drive around with fog-lamps (or driving-lamps) on in daylight are a pet hate on Pistonheads. Rich...

I never said anything about daylight, I only use them on roads that have no street lighting at night to light the road up so I can see where I`m going better!

RichardR, I accept that what you have stated is true, but it also says you MUST NOT speed and how many of us do at some point? Probably a good 99% of drivers do!

All I`m saying is that if they dont dazzle (and I know mine don't) then is OK to use them when I feel they are needed.

Roy.
