I got a load of options with the car such as eletric mirrors, S3C bonnet( witht he hump), driving lights also. But still can't tell. Ah! It's all so complicated.
don't get bogged down in specs... just enjoy the car! I seem to recall at one point, you nearly gave up...

True, true. I did almost give up and end up with a Numpty shopping trolly. But as for enjoying the car, unfortunately I don't have it at the moment. It's off getting it's new hood put on. Shoould get it back either tonight or tomorrow. For the moment minimax has lent me his Seciento Sporting.

mine is an S3C and doesn't have hydraulic tappets - I don't think any of the 2.8 or 2.9 Ford V6 engines had hydraulic tappets throughout the life of the Granada / Scorpio...?
I didn't think mine had because the adjusters are still there. I tried adjusting them and it all went pear shaped. Went to Tower View for advice and was told 3c's had hydraulic tappets they gave me a (Ford Produced) sheet how to reset them. I don't know if they were ever fitted to Granada / Scorpio, but my car does have them.

Good one Tony.. Right, in photo 14, you see the normal air filter.. On a 3C you may see this, on a 3 you will see an airflow meter sat on the cross member in more or less the same place as the pipercross filter.
Incidentally, on mine in photo 15 you will only see 2 K&N cones as the original filter has been removed. I think this contributes to the subtle tone of the car..
Don't know if these help. Ones my father took when he looked at the car.

I would tend to agree.. I think the only definitive way to tell is the air flow meters; with them it can't possibly be a 3C. I think, without them a 3 will not run as well as if it had them, so it ought to be reasonble to guess that you are looking at a 3C if they are not there..
Cats are no good, so many of the cars have them removed..
Err.. Not easily with this PC.. Look at the following borrowed from a previous poster. Lovely shiny chassis you have there BTW
If you follow the 2 tubes running from roughly 2 o'clock to 9 o'clock with the red bands around them, the airflow meter is at the far left, right next to the radiator supported by a couple of brackets and partially hidden behind the inner wing thats lifted up with the bonnet.
On other cars all you will see there is a pipercross air filter, (or maybe an aftermarket filter). Mine doesn't have the tubes at all and just has a couple of K&N horns at about the 2 o'clock position.

ok here's a photo of mine (S3C) for comparison:
Circle A shows the air filter and no air flow meters - see in the photo above, the two wee grey boxes that are missing on mine.
Circle B shows the lambda sensor (with the wire coming off) and the cat (with the bolts holding it on) underneath. The S3C doesn't need air flow meters because the lambda sensor controls the fuel/air mapping from the ECU.
hope this helps (it's the limit of my knowledge so it'll have to do!)

Is yours old enough to not need them for the MOT? I'd been thinking about how much hassle it might be to have to put them back each time as I know some others do, (never heard of that on an S though)..
Cats were only mandatory after 1993, so hook 'em out.I gather their removel produces another 10 BHP.
