Hi there,
Yeah I'm based in Chiswick just up the road from you. However "Millie" (the S) - is currently down at my other halfs in Exeter being MOTd and serviced (this very day) at Peninsula - so I've got her Punto instead. Crap swap or wot !
There is a TVR Car Club meet for middlesex which meets on the first Weds of the month (I think) at the Coy Carp Pub (until it burn't down last month). RoyC on this board is the area rep that runs the meet and also has (a very nice) white S. Also at least one other guy there has an S - so if we all went - that would be 4 !
Cheers,
WG

It's currently a very dirty white S, after thrashing around Jurby Circuit (IOM) last weekend. It also won the concours!?!
Unless the Coy Carp has risen pheonix-like from the ashes, the Middlesex meeting (next Wed) will still be on tour - watch this space.

Great -
Funnily enough, mine is in at Tower View today - whats the best place (in your opionion) for servicing in the area?
Where is the pub & are you going next week?
Tim.
I haven't used Tower View yet but it does have a very good reputation. For smaller jobs I use G&M at Stamford Brook. They're not cheap, but they're very good and for my location - very convenient.
Will try to go next week. Probably won't have the S tho' which defeats part of the point a bit.

I've booked in at Peninsula for their 'winter special' service and 2 nights' B&B, and thrown in a steam'n'waxoyl for good measure.
I've only heard good things about themn so far - any comments?

Well, I had a call from them about an hour ago and - Ouch !! Following things wrong with the S :
- Engine Mounts have totally collapsed - engine resting on front roll bar -a very recent development
as not much damage - could also be the cause of an oil leak (it's putting pressure on the sump and may have clobbered the sump gasket)
- Exhaust is blowing
- Front Brake Pads are breaking up
- Leaky rear break cylinders - again recent as they haven't started attacking the shoes.
- Steering rack lower bearing on the way out
- Rubber gaiter on the stearing rack has gone
- Rear Exhaust Mount is missing
- Total Waxoyl-tastic-ness for winter
Curses !
Throw in a 12,000 mile service and an MOT - comes to almost £900. BUT they gave us a courtesy car, and will have the whole lot fixed in 2 days. They really sound like they know what they're doing and haven't tried to blind with mechanic speak. I don't think it would've been cheaper at Tower. I'm just happy the chassis is sound and that she's going to back better than ever.

not at your woes but this - just had a call from Tower View - here is my (freakily similar) list:
Reversing lights
Exhaust Rubbers
Shock bushes
Bulkhead bearing
Radiator
Fuel hose
Slave cylinder
Rear brake cylinders weeping - so am I...
But they checked out the chassis and say its sound as a pound.... Thats me busy for the next few cold autumn weekends...

Mmmm - that is a bit spooky. Always good to see someone doing it themselves tho'. I don't have the confidence to mess with it myself - particularly the important stuff like the brakes. I'm crap enough at the home plumbing already ! I stick to the trivial stuff.
