Well I havent heard from goff (Mick Gaughran) but I dont want this to die so I have asked at a local precision engineers (who have made the tube bits for the bonnet hinges) and they tell me they could make the base, filler cap and trigger. I guess that we would have to transfer the sealing bit with springs and the spring for the trigger and assemble it our selves.

The good news is he is talking about £100 all in stainless steel and polished BUT we would have to commit to a 100 exactly the same as before. so far the following have expressed an interest.

Do we have any more please.

I will contact the Scimitar Owners Club in the absence of goff and see whats happening there.

Could Barkychoc contact Glen at the Sunbeam Rapier Owners Club and see the interest level there

ETA

Mick rang me this am by chance he is still working on the project (but his time has been very limited as his company makes thing to conbat swinw flu and they have been very very busy) its possibile he might have a supplier but in China and while he will keep his supplier warm feels that it would be best to get a UK supplier so we will see if my local opportunity comes to anything.

Norman,

I would be very interested in one to replace the rather pitted cap on the V8s, count me in.

Has anyone approached one of the spares suppliers and asked if they would be interested in purchasing for stock?

It would be useful if someone could lend me a filler cap, tatty would be best, which I could take to the fabricator. Better still would be one I could dis-assemble.

Any offers

Hi There,

Count me in I will take six from the English supplier,

I have put the Chinese Cap on hold on a temp' basis purely because there is far more come-back with a recognised British supplier.

The Chinese Cap was £100 for the whole set-up in Stainless (top Quality) and the final few details were being ironed out for example the rubber seal.

Please shout if you want me to do the deal on this cap, I do however also need to have to have a good idea of numbers before I personally fund the tooling costs.

(P.S. very sorry for the lack of responses I have been extremely busy on the work front) ;o(

Regards

Mick

There was a guy on here with a fire damaged white S that he was breaking. Might be worth giving him a try - I'm sure he would have kept hold of such a rare item.. biggrin

getmecoat

On a serious note - the SROC chap has almost sold out of the batch of filler cap seals set aside to the TVR brigade but none have been sold to Rapier owners.
