Been doing a bit of research in the Scimitar community and have been offered a new filler cap complete but with the opening bit blistered in any 10 places with one abou 1.5mm in diameter plus an opening bit still new (no base) with one small blister so one very good one could be made from two at the price of £180!! Rather expensive.

This is still ongoing, sample going shortly to get a quotation but we are considering fitting a key lock. However the problem is providing the potential supplier with an engineering drawing for them to work off. They can copy fine (in fact apparently you have to tell them NOT to copy faults) but not good at inovation.

So the question is are there any aspiring designer in the forum to help with the design of the locking mechanism. Any help appreciated

Yep thats the sort of thing but we need to find somebody with the skills to produce a 'bluebriny' so we can get first a price and then get them into production, any ideas for that please.

I was getting some petrol this morning, when the guy filling at the adjacent pump said without any prior conversation "that fuel cap is off the Sunbeam Rapier Fastback, I know I've got one - must be off the fastback though, not the saloon"

Blimey ! yikes

I've had a quick trawl through google and cannot find a suitable image or drawing showing t he fule cap in any detail, though you do get a good quantity of Sunbeam results in the search.

Now all we need to do is find an owner of a Rapier Fastback for comparison.......

Hello Chris,

Thanks for your mail. Just an ack really for now as I'm working away up to Christmas. Certainly interested in doing something, but not sure if cap really is the same. Yes, they are rare in good condition. Seal is a prob for us at the mo. as it is MOT failure. Will get some pics twixt now & New Year.

Hope we can sort something.

Thanks again for making contact.

No Peter just that the petrol filler cap from a Sunbeam Rapier Fastback is the same as the S and the Relients as above. The sample cap is in India at present for pricing etc

My filler cap says Ceandess Ltd on the inside of it - and they are still around http://www.ceandess.co.uk/ so I've made an enquiry.

Where abouts on the cap is that? I can't spot anything like that on mine.
