Just had a look at the classifieds. On the front page there are no less than 5 V8's and 3 of them at 10k and under. Is it the time of year, or are prices/demand dropping?
I would have expected to be looking at over 10k for one even in average nick.
Anyone bought the concours one that is showing as sold?

I think £15k
Personally for that car I would say that was more than a fair price.

I spoke to the owner last weekend, he lives near my parents and as I was there I was going to go and have a look! sadly I didnt have time!
He was asking for offers around £16K!! So you are probably near the mark with £15K

£15k for a V8S !
I really don't know how you private sellers sleep at nights? !!!
Well if you consider what factory fresh is like then add some, you'll get close.
I doubt you'd come across a tidier example, besides I've seen rough old ones go through the trade not far short of this price in the last year.
Not forgetting it is the last of the classic shaped Tivs, much more comfortable, dare I say it, civilised a drive than the griffaera counterparts. You don't give away classics do you, people would knock your door down to get to them otherwise .

This is a real concours example... simply the best one I have EVER seen. If I had the cash, I'd have put in an offer... :sigh:
From the pics I can say that Andy Hills V8S (Mr Sheen) which has won many concours prizes is in better condition!!! But I would agree its certainly up there among the best! £16K is still a lot of money for a V8S though!

I've seen Andy's a few times as well, and yes Andy's has a shinier body, but take it from me this one is inheirantly(sp?) better condition. It only had 8K on it when I saw it a few weeks ago .
Disagree, with the price being too much, what price would you say when average ones fetch £10-12K .

I think the ready availability of early Chimaeras around the 10-11k Mark is ultimately going to have an adverse affect on the V8S market though at some point..
Matt.
Sadly agree with you, it will affect the prices, but they are two different beast's. There will always be someone that wants a chimaera over a V8S and vica versa, so the right car, whatever model, will always get the right person and hence price for it.
Interestingly a well known engine builder who test drove mine after a rebuild commented on how much a nicer drive the V8S was compared to the ususal griffaeras they get through their doors.
