I think the ready availability of early Chimaeras around the 10-11k Mark is ultimately going to have an adverse affect on the V8S market though at some point..

Matt.

Sadly agree with you, it will affect the prices, but they are two different beast's. There will always be someone that wants a chimaera over a V8S and vica versa, so the right car, whatever model, will always get the right person and hence price for it.

Interestingly a well known engine builder who test drove mine after a rebuild commented on how much a nicer drive the V8S was compared to the ususal griffaeras they get through their doors.

Harry

Not the least bit suprised at all.. Of course the problem with the general market is that there are many people who merely want to buy a V8 TVR that looks nice, rather than specifically hunting down a more "niche" vehicle in the V8S. Hmmmm..

Matt.

All TVR models prices will of course eventually find their natural base given the laws of supply and demand - only need to monitor historical prices on the fore runners of S series to see this ably demonstrated.

Ask yourself how much cheaper could a V8S go in relation to the late wedges? Some pundits would go so far as to suggest its already bottomed out?

What else will your £10k buy you?

Bear in mind also that the V8S purchaser often has a slighlty differing rationale to the potential Chimaera buyer. If you've ever met "Pies" you'll know exactly what I mean!

I think £15k

£15k for a V8S !

I really don't know how you private sellers sleep at nights? !!!

This is a real concours example... simply the best one I have EVER seen. If I had the cash, I'd have put in an offer... :sigh:

From the pics I can say that Andy Hills V8S (Mr Sheen) which has won many concours prizes is in better condition!!! But I would agree its certainly up there among the best! £16K is still a lot of money for a V8S though!

I've seen Andy's a few times as well, and yes Andy's has a shinier body, but take it from me this one is inheirantly(sp?) better condition. It only had 8K on it when I saw it a few weeks ago .
Disagree, with the price being too much, what price would you say when average ones fetch £10-12K .

Harry

I wasnt really referring to the bodywork of Andy's car, which of course is superb, I meant the overall condition!! Andys car only has 15K miles too and there are certainly no marks on the underside of the chassis like this one and not even any dirt on the inside of the wheelarches for that matter??? That is still quite sad Andy????

I didnt mean the price for this car is too much as someone obviously disgrees and bought it. IMHO for £16K I would rather buy a Griffith!

As pies says each to their own, I wouldn't disagree with you.
Different car altogether, one is more nervous than the other, one you can push on in, one will bite harder than the other, one has more nimbleness, one is rarer than the other.
IMHO for 16K I think I'd be thinking about saving a little more and geting an early sorted 4.2 cerb

Very tempting, but my head tells me to make the most of my one at present, having spent a third world debt getting it to a 's me thats quick' standard .
Maybe in years time though....

Six at my last count. Two of them seem to have been duplicated (re-priced?).

Couple of them are a lot lower priced than I would have expected. Wonder what's wrong with them?

From an outsider point of view, the V6 S offers value for money TVR motoring with prices ranging from 5k-9k ish but with the values of other TVR Models Chim etc now available for £12k+ I think the V8S is feeling the draft a bit hence we are seeing cars sub 10k

From an insider, buy one why the prices are low

Why so many though, perhaps they are downgrading who knows, its the time of year people sell if they don't intend to run the car next season. Saying that, out of 400 V8S's thats still quite a few, how many Chims at he moment , they made about 4000 of those so all things being equal there should be 60 for sale.

Fair point as there are over 140 Chims for sale on PH's at the moment so in percentage of cars built its not that many!!!

Harry, do you know anything about the red V8S for sale on PH's??

Don't know the car personally, I've seen it sprinting on the track, sounded nice, don't they all! other than that don't know it.
There are enough people that participate in the TVRCC sprinting who may have a little more info.
Easiest thing though is to speak to the guy selling it. Most Tiv owners have nothing to hide, can't really say that this one has not been raced though , but then again sprinting may be more easier on the car that doing lots of track days IMHO.
