rocker shaft help
Discussion
hi I am looking for a rocker shaft pederstal bolt for 2.9 cologne engined S4c. (The rocker shaft is held in place by 3 bolts, i have brocken one)
Does any one know where i may get one from? I have tried Burton, local and internet scrap yards, Bellhill garage, Ford Dealer etc all have drawn a blank.
Any ideas would be most welcome. If anyone has an old 2.9 engine and wish to sell one please contact me. michaelclapham@live.com

Try jwoffshore he had the engine from the fire damaged S2 as a spare
Hi jwoffshore, i have e-mailed you. thanks very much for all your help.
Info for others who may need to replace cylinder head gaskets.... beware...
I have done some thinking and checking, why I broke the bolt, partly due to enthusiasm but also my Haynes manual for Ford Sierra V6 1982 to 1991 on page 13.4 states torque setting for rocker shaft securing bolts 62-70 Nm. At which mine broke!
I checked on the internet for a ford scorpio and torque setting suggested by ford was 32 Nm.
I guess I am going to use 32Nm next time......
Thanks again

Argh! HELP please!
I have succumbed to this issue too! This is due to applying the wrong torque setting; I felt it was wrong, but carried on anyway (what a numpty), and one bolt sheared at 40ft/lbs. So much for the printed torques settings from the web that I used!!!!
I can see that sourcing a new bolt may be problematic so I wondered if anyone on here has a rocker shaft pedestal bolt for the Ford Cologne 2.9 V6 fitted to my S3 that they can spare.
I would be so grateful if I don't have to trawl scrap yards etc.
Thanks in advance,
Jon

Don't quite match your description Jon but these are rocker pedestal bolts from a 2.9i I dismantled.
17mm head (11/16" in old money)
65mm long from under head (approx 72mm total)
M10 thread and a big fat washer
I got your email with address, if you could confirm if they look right I'l pop 'em in the Post

Mike (Phillpot), you are a star!
I've just collected my post having been away for a while, and found your bolts, which of course fit perfectly.
So thank you so much, and please expect a note in the post from me shortly.
You have really helped me and restored my faith in humanity with your generosity.
Are there awards for good PH'ers I wonder; I would nominate you!
Thanks,
Jon

Yes indeed, it is "finger out" time as the Howling* Beast has been hibernating for too long and summer's nearly gone.
She was my daily driver until the exhaust manifold cracked and manifold/head bolts sheared when undoing them (is this something I'm prone to?!!!!), and that was six YEARS ago!
I'm looking forward to hearing that V6 burble again.
750-2000 rpm = V6 burble
2000-4500 rpm = growling
4500-6000 rpm = *howling* !
